Pour finir cette longue série consacrée au premier album voici un tirage Vénézuélien acheté dans un Salon il y a presque 8 mois. Comme j'ai quasi arrêté d'acheter sur ebay à cause des frais de port et des taxes ce n'est que dans des salons que je peux trouver des produits intéressants sur tous les plans. Dont ce tirage Sud-Américain.

To finish this long series dedicated to the first album here is a Venezuelan print bought in a record convention almost 8 months ago. As I almost stopped buying on ebay because of shipping costs and taxes it is only in record convention that I can find interesting products on all levels. Including this South American print.

Sa référence est EMI 102 04492. Cet album a été réalisé en collaboration avec la corporation Los Ruices. Cette société a été fondée vers 1970 pour fabriquer sous licence les tirages pour EMI, RCA et d'autres compagnies, sur le Venezuela. Par la suite Los Ruices a perdu le contrat avec EMI mais a continué, sous d'autres noms, avec RCA, puis a fini par être rachetée dans les années 1990 disparaissant définitivement. On peut aussi noter que le dépôt légal indique la date de 1983.

Its reference is EMI 102 04492. This album was produced in collaboration with the Los Ruices Corporation. This company was founded around 1970 to license prints for EMI, RCA and other companies in Venezuela. Subsequently Los Ruices lost the contract with EMI but continued, under other names, with RCA, then was eventually bought in the 1990s disappearing permanently. It can also be noted that the legal deposit indicates the date of 1983.

Cette date n'est pas anormale pour un premier tirage, car il y a eu un décalage dans plusieurs pays, sur différents continents, entre la date officielle de sortie et celle au Venezuela par exemple. Outre le manque de notoriété du groupe à cette époque, les infrastructures locales ne permettaient pas non plus de fabriquer un produit correct en 1980. D'ailleurs la qualité des produits en Amérique du Sud, mais aussi ailleurs, fait que souvent ils ont mal vieilli et que trouver une pochette et un disque implacable tient du miracle. Probablement à cause du climat, mais aussi du manque de soin pour le stockage. Sur le dos de la couverture on trouve un sticker rond posé sur l'impression blanche d'origine. Je pense qu'il s'agit d'un sticker modifiant une taxe ou un prix indicatif, comme les stickers Pathe Marconi.

This date is not abnormal for a first draw, because there was a gap in several countries, on different continents, between the official release date and that in Venezuela for example. In addition to the group’s lack of notoriety at the time, local infrastructure also did not allow for the production of a correct product in 1980. Moreover, the quality of the products in South America, but also elsewhere, makes that often they have aged badly and that finding a cover and a relentless record is a miracle. Probably because of the climate, but also the lack of care for storage. On the back of the cover is a round sticker placed on the original white print. I think it is a sticker modifying a tax or an indicative price, like Pathe Marconi stickers.

Le label est jaune avec le texte rouge. La "Corporaçion Los Ruices" figure bien sur le texte des crédits. Les titres figurent en Anglais et en Espagnol. A ce propos le titre Prowler est traduit ici en Vago (vagabond), tandis que sur le tirage Espagnol il est écrit Vagabundo. La matrice est bien comme la référence mais avec un C devant, soit C 102 04492.

The label is yellow with the red text. The "Corporaçion Los Ruices" appears on the text of the credits. The titles are in English and Spanish. In this regard the title Prowler is translated here into Vago (vagabond), while on the Spanish print it is written Vagabundo. The matrix is like the reference but with a C in front, C 102 04492.

Je vous retrouve avec plaisir après quelques vacances bien méritées ! Et pour ce nouvel article je vous propose un très beau produit, en l’occurrence le tirage Anglais de 1997. Ce tirage fait partie de la série de "The First Centenary", qui célébrait le centenaire d'EMI en 1997. A ce titre 100 disques ont été réédités avec un habillage spécial.

This print is part of the series of "The First Centenary", which celebrated the centenary of EMI in 1997. As such, 100 records have been reissued with a special dress.

Sa référence était EMI LPCENT 35, à savoir donc le 35ème disque de cette collection. Cette référence figurait dans un code barre que l'on retrouve sur des rééditions CD, ou sur les vinyles des années 2000. Ce code barre était 724382142812. La police de caractère est importante car elle est en caractère bâton, ce qui la distingue par exemple du Times New Roman utilisé en 1993. Pour les rééditions CD ce changement de police de caractère nous aide à différencier deux tirages. Ici nous sommes certains que ce vinyle date de 1997 car c'est écrit dessus !

Its reference was EMI LPCENT 35, so the 35th disc of this collection. This reference was in a barcode found on CD reissues, or on vinyls of the 2000s. This barcode was 724382142812. The typeface is important because it is in stick type, which distinguishes it for example from the Times New Roman used in 1993. For CD reissues this font change helps us differentiate two prints. Here we are sure that this vinyl dates from 1997 because it is written on it !

La pochette a donc été modifiée mais reprenait certains textes de la pochette de 1980, notamment les crédits au dos et aussi le GO 8004 GL pour identifier l'imprimeur. Mais outre le EMI 100 sous le code barre, un sticker avait été collé sur le recto pour le différencier du premier coup d'oeil:

The cover was modified but included some texts from the 1980 cover, including the credits on the back and also the GO 8004 GL to identify the printer. But in addition to the EMI 100 under the barcode, a sticker had been glued on the front to differentiate it from the first glance.

Le disque est plus épais que l'original, car comme indiqué sur le sticker il est de type 180 grammes. Le label de type Eddie a aussi été repris, avec comme seule modification les références. La matrice aussi a été changée pou LPCENT 35 A111:

The disc is thicker than the original, because as indicated on the sticker it is 180 grams. The Eddie type label was also taken over, with the references as the only modification. The matrix was also changed for LPCENT 35 A111.

Je ne connais pas le nombre d'exemplaire produit pour cette réédition, mais je sais qu'elle est recherchée et qu'elle cote plus que le tirage original. Vous savez probablement que ce vinyle du groupe n'est pas le seul qui a été réédité. En effet The number of the beast a lui aussi eu les honneurs du LPCENT, avec le numéro 7. Dès lors il convient, pour tous collectionneurs, de posséder les deux:

I do not know the number of copies produced for this reissue, but I know that it is sought after and that it scores more than the original print. You probably know that this vinyl from the band is not the only one that has been reissued. Indeed, The number of the beast also had the honours of the LPCENT, with number 7. L'article pourrait être terminé mais, vous me connaissez, je cherche souvent à ouvrir sur un sujet différent en fin de texte. Et là je vais vous apprendre peut-être qu'il existe un troisième produit du groupe portant le terme EMI 100. Il s'agit du tirage CD Japonais de Best of the beast de 1996. Mais, petite subtilité, il ne fait pas partie des 100 albums célébrant l'anniversaire. Et pour cause, il a été mis en vente en 1996. En fait le texte sur l'obi indique que 1997 sera le centenaire d'EMI. Une sorte de teasing avant l'heure donc:
