   Il est temps d'aller en juin 2024, au Hellfest, sur les stands de vente de vinyles. Il n'y en a pas beaucoup sous les grandes tentes surchauffées du market, ou plutôt il y a trop de vendeurs de vinyles réédités ou multicolores, et très peu qui vendent des originaux. Et lorsqu'il fait très chaud, comme ce fut le cas en 2024 et 2025, ce n'est pas une partie de plaisir de visiter le market et on a plutôt tendance a tracer qu'à s'attarder. Dommage. En 2024 il y a eu un stand tenu par des Italiens (que je n'ai pas revu en 2025).

   It’s time to go in June 2024, at the Hellfest, to the vinyl sales stands. There are not many of them under the large overheated tents in the market, or rather there are too many sellers of reissued or multicolored vinyls, and very few who sell originals. And when it’s very hot, as was the case in 2024 and 2025, it’s not a pleasure to visit the market and we tend to draw rather than linger. Too bad. In 2024, there was a stand held by Italians (which I did not see again in 2025).

   Et ces italiens vendaient des originaux dont cette édition d'Iron Maiden. Il s'agit de la réédition de 1981, avec le label jaune. La référence est 3C 064 07269: 

   And these Italians were selling originals, including this edition of Iron Maiden. It is the reissue of 1981, with the yellow label. The reference is 3C 064 07269.

   J'écris 1981 comme date de réédition mais en fait je ne sais pas l'année de mise en vente. En effet le tirage initiale date de 1980, mais il avait un label EMI, tel que ceci:

   I write 1981 as the reissue date but in fact I don’t know the year of sale. Indeed, the initial edition dates from 1980, but it had an EMI label, such as upper.

   Et donc quelques mois après, en 1981 ou 1982, comme dans beaucoup de pays, il a été réédité mais avec un label jaune. Par commodité je vais donc indiquer l'année 1981, mais je n'en ai pas la certitude. A noter toutefois que la matrice est 07269 A et indique 15.05.80, soit la date visible aussi sur le label EMI. La date n'a pas été modifiée sur le moule qui a été utilisé pour graver cette réédition. Dommage, cela aurait permis de la dater avec certitude.

   And so a few months later, in 1981 or 1982, as in many countries, it was reissued but with a yellow label. For convenience, I will therefore indicate the year 1981, but I am not certain. Note, however, that the matrix is 07269 A and indicates 15.05.80, which is also the date visible on the EMI label. The date has not been modified on the mold that was used to engrave this reissue. Too bad, it would have made it possible to date it with certainty.

   Il existe encore trois autres éditions pour l'Italie dont deux avec un changement de référence, dont la plus récente comporte un code barre. Elle doit dater de 1985. Et l'autre s'intercalerait entre 1981 et 1985. Cela fait donc 4 tirages pour l'Italie entre 1980 et 1985.

   There are still three other editions for Italy with two with a change of reference, the most recent of which has a barcode. It must date from 1985. And the other would intercalate between 1981 and 1985. This makes 4 editions for Italy between 1980 and 1985.

   Le produit est identique à une copie vendue dans le commerce, à savoir la référence EMC 3357, avec les crédits et mentions habituels, notamment l'imprimeur TM 8102 RS. Cela indique donc une pochette imprimée en avril 1981:

   The product is identical to a copy sold commercially, namely the reference EMC 3357, with the usual credits and mentions, notably the printer TM 8102 RS. This therefore indicates a sleeve printed in April 1981.

   Les labels aussi sont identiques, et de type Eddie:

   The labels are also identical, and of type Eddie.

   Venons-en maintenant à ce qui est fait une copie promotionnelle. Il existe plusieurs façons de rendre un produit promotionnel, le plus conforme étant que cela soit imprimé dessus. C'est d'ailleurs le seul moyen reconnu par Discogs ! Mais dans de nombreux pays, il y a eu un rajout de tampon encré, embouti ou de sticker collé. Dans le cas présent c'est un sticker qui a été collé sur la face arrière de la pochette. J'ai déjà parlé de ce sticker dans d'autres articles car je dois en être à 4 produits promo anglais avec celui-ci. Et le constat est toujours le même: un papier blanc au bords ronds, d'aspect un peu cotonneux, et une impression encrée rouge nette avec une typographie originale. Pour ce type de tampon le papier ne doit pas comporter de point de couleur dedans et le bord des lettres doit être bien dessiné. Si ce n'est pas le cas c'est probablement un scannage d'un sticker original collé. En effet, comme je l'ai déjà expliqué, scanné ce tampon modifie l'aspect et le rendu. C'est alors très facile d'identifier un sticker original d'une éventuelle copie:

   Let’s now come to what is made a promotional copy. There are several ways to make a product promotional, the most suitable being that it is printed on it. It’s also the only way recognized by Discogs! But in many countries, there has been an addition of inked stamps, stamped or stuck stickers. In this case, it’s a sticker that was stuck on the back of the cover. I have already talked about this sticker in other articles because I must be at 4 English promotional products with it. And the observation is always the same: a white paper with round edges, a little cottony in appearance, and a clear red inked print with an original typography. For this type of stamp, the paper must not have a color point inside and the edge of the letters must be well drawn. If this is not the case, it’s probably a scan of an original pasted sticker. Indeed, as I have already explained, scanning this stamp changes the appearance and rendering. It is then very easy to identify an original sticker from a possible copy.
