   Ce CD Japonais est le premier CD single pour le groupe jamais sorti, même s'il n'est pas encore totalement 100% nippon. Avant il n'y avait eu que des 45 tours en single, mais aussi le CD 3 pouces de Can I play with madness dans un format très particulier donc. Il y en aura d'autres ensuite jusque The number of the beast en 2005.

   This Japanese CD is the first single CD for the band ever released, even if it is not yet 100% Japanese. Before there had been only 45 rpm single, but also the 3 inch CD of Can I play with madness in a very particular format. There will be others until The number of the beast in 2005.

   Pour The evil that men do EMI en 1988 a choisi d'utiliser un import UK pour l'habiller avec une obi. Dès lors la référence CDEM46 est devenue CP12-5740. Le boitier avec sa jaquette et le CD est donc identique avec le tirage Anglais. La matrice avait été faite par Nimbus. Pourquoi ce choix ? Probablement pour limiter les couts alors que le CD se développe lentement dans le monde. La série des retirages d'album avec triangle noir ne date que de 1987 et Seventh son of the seventh son ne sortira en CD qu'en avril 1989. Toshiba n'avait probablement pas encore l'outil pour fabriquer tous les CD de tous les groupes pour le compte d'EMI. Dès lors le choix d'un import UK s'imposait peut-être pour ce premier single en CD.

   For The evil that men do EMI in 1988 chose to use a UK import to dress her up with an obi. From then on the reference CDEM46 became CP12-5740. The case with its cover and the CD is therefore identical with the English edition. The matrix was made by Nimbus. Why this choice? Probably to limit costs while the CD is slowly developing in the world. The series of album reprints with black triangle only dates from 1987 and Seventh son of the seventh son will be released on CD in April 1989. Toshiba probably did not yet have the tool to make all the CDs of all the groups on behalf of EMI. Therefore the choice of a UK import was perhaps necessary for this first single on CD.

   Afin donc de Japoniser ce produit, EMI a ajouté un insert local, un incontournable pour ce pays où l'Anglais n'est pas forcément lu par tous:

   Venons-en à l'obi. Elle est bleu clair avec du texte rouge, jaune et blanc. Outre la référence CP12-5740, un code barre a été ajouté: 4988006628830. Le prix était de 1200 yens. Pas de date, ce qui indique aussi un process de conception pas encore standardisé comme par la suite: obi, insert, date de mise en vente et date de fin d'offre. Les coins sont ronds. Autre différence, l'absence de Toshiba comme distributeur local comme en 1987 pour les triangles noirs ou les suivants jusqu'en 2006. Pour mémoire à partir de 2008 Toshiba disparait au profit de EMI Japan music:

   Ce CD est maintenant assez difficile à trouver et je suis bien content de l'avoir acheté il y a quelques années (2021), à un prix plus bas et surtout sans ces scandaleuses taxes d'importation...
