Comme beaucoup d'entre vous j'ai acheté les rééditions 2024 de Powerslave. Lorsque je dis "les rééditions" ce sont au moins les 2 éditions Europe et USA. Mais j'en ai trouvé une troisième !

Like many of you, I bought the 2024 reissues from Powerslave. When I say "reissues" it means at least 2 editions Europe and USA. But I found a third !

Examinons les deux éditions "classiques", en précisant que je n'ai pas ouvert les produits comme je le fais depuis de nombreuses années pour des vinyles neufs. Je fais cela car je n'estime pas nécessaire d'examiner le contenu et le disque. D'une part il y a de nombreuses photos publiées sur internet et les mienne ne vont pas y ajouter grand-chose et deuxièmement l'aspect historique est minime par rapport à un produit des années 80 que je dois comparer avec d'autres pour en déterminer l'origine ou les différences.

Pour l'Europe c'est Warner Parlophone qui s'est logiquement occupé de la conception et distribution de ce tirage. Sa référence est celle du code barre: 5021732404916. Et surtout le grand sticker qui a été apposé sur le recto pour bien identifier cette réédition dite 'Zoetrope":

For Europe, it is Warner Parlophone who has logically taken care of the design and distribution of this edit. Its reference is the bar code: 5021732404916. And especially the large sticker that has been affixed on the front to identify this re-edition called 'Zoetrope".

Et pour les États-Unis ce travail a été confié à BMG Sanctuary. Si vous avez acheté ce produit vous avez probablement vu que la référence indiquée est surprenante: IMPOWER1. Cela ressemble à un hommage à la référence Anglaise de 1984. Il y a également un code barre qui est: 4099964078947. Le grand sticker est différent dans le texte et a entrainé des remarques sur les réseaux sociaux:

And for the US, this work was entrusted to BMG Sanctuary. If you have bought this product you probably saw that the reference indicated is surprising: IMPOWER1. This looks like a tribute to the 1984 English reference. There is also a bar code which is: 4099964078947. The large sticker is different in text and has led to comments on social networks.

En effet j'ai lu à plusieurs reprises que ce sticker (et donc le groupe) mentait en indiquant que ce produit était vendu pour la première fois en vinyle ! Je ne suis pas un spécialiste du son, d'ailleurs je n'en parle jamais dans mes articles, car cela est subjectif et que le son que j'aime ne sera jamais le votre. Donc le groupe a choisi le remaster 2015 pour graver cette réédition 2024. A ma connaissance la dernière réédition en vinyle de Powerslave date de 2014, après celle en picture disc de 2013. Il ne s'agissait pas alors du remaster sonore de 2015, lequel a été utilisé en 2017 pour les rééditions en vinyle des albums post 1990. Donc pour moi le groupe ne ment pas, ou du moins BMG ne ment pas en écrivant cela. Maintenant cet argument n'a pas été repris sur le sticker Europe, car je ne pense pas que cela soit un levier de vente important pour les fans.

Indeed I read several times that this sticker (and therefore the group) lied by indicating that this product was sold for the first time in vinyl! I’m not a sound specialist, and I never mention it in my articles because it’s subjective and the sound I like will never be yours. So the group chose the 2015 remaster to burn this 2024 re-edition. To my knowledge the last vinyl re-release of Powerslave dates from 2014, after the picture disc from 2013. It was not the 2015 sound remaster, which was used in 2017 for vinyl re-releases of albums post 1990. So for me the band is not lying, or at least BMG does not lie writing this. Now this argument was not taken up on the sticker Europe, because I do not think it is an important selling lever for fans.

Mais amis Européens vous pouvez aussi être surpris par le fait d'apprendre que ce produit Américain a été fabriqué en République Tchèque ! Outre le fait de s'interroger sur la capacité ou non pour les Américains de graver des vinyles dans leur propre pays, je suis très content d'avoir payé une taxe d'importation en faisant venir ce produit des USA vers l'Europe alors qu'en fait, initialement, il a été fabriqué en Europe ! Mais il faut remplir les caisses des états, donc...

But friends of Europe you may also be surprised to learn that this American product was made in the Czech Republic! Pour être complet je vous indique avoir classé un tirage Italien pour cette réédition. Cela n'engage que moi que je comprends que vous ne considériez pas cela comme un tirage différent. Je m'explique. Lorsque j'ai acheté mon tirage Europe via Amazon, et en parallèle un autre exemplaire dans un magasin, j'ai constaté en recevant mon exemplaire via Amazon qu'il possédait le sticker SIAE au verso. Ce sticker est relatif aux droits de douane en Italie, et le caractérise comme tel. On a ce type de sticker depuis les années 90 en Italie:

When I bought my Europe print via Amazon, and in parallel another copy in a store, I found by receiving my copy via Amazon that it had the SIAE sticker on the back. This sticker is related to customs duties in Italy, and characterizes it as such. We have had this type of sticker since the 90s in Italy.

Quoi qu'il en soit ces rééditions sont intéressantes pour les collectionneurs, probablement plus que pour les mélomanes. Mais on peut s'interroger pourquoi The number of the beast et Powerslave ont eu les honneurs d'être réédités, et pas Piece of mind par exemple ?

Anyway these reissues are interesting for collectors, probably more than for music lovers. But we can ask why The number of the beast and Powerslave had the honor to be reissued, and not Piece of mind for example ?

Les dernières nouvelles de mon blog sont bonnes. La page Iron Maiden argus est finalisée et vous pouvez y retrouver toutes les références et les cotes à jour. Concernant les pages des titres, j'ai constaté quelques manques dans les dernières pages modifiées et que j'ai corrigé. Mais il se peut que des scan de produits soient manquants. S'il y en a encore je le verrais lors du rajout d'un produit en comparant avec mon fichier de référence. J'ai modifié environ une dizaine de page selon la nouvelle présentation avec les logos des produits et les drapeaux des pays. J'espère que cela vous plait. The latest news from my blog is good. The Iron Maiden argus page is finalized and you can find all references and updated ratings. Regarding the title pages, I noticed some gaps in the last modified pages and that I corrected. But it may be that some product scans are missing. If there is still I would see it when adding a product by comparing with my reference file. Sa référence RMC est V.245626 visible car inscrite au marqueur du la pochette. Le tampon date est aussi présent et indique le 24 octobre 1985, soit environ un mois après la date de sortie officielle du single:

C'est un tirage promo EMI Pathe Marconi donc bien entendu le tampon embouti promo a été apposé sur un bord. Ici en l’occurrence sur le bord supérieur droit:

Il y a bien un insert dans ce produit mais, ce ne sera pas une nouveauté, il est vierge. Aucune écoute. Après réflexion je me dis que cette discothèque devait comporter un nombre très important de vinyles jamais écouté ! S'agissant d'une radio généraliste je peux comprendre qu'Iron Maiden n'ait pas été diffusé souvent, voir jamais au regard des fiches de suivi...

There is an insert in this product but it will not be a novelty, it is blank. No listening. After reflection I say that this disco had to have a very important number of vinyl records never heard! As a general-purpose radio station I can understand that Iron Maiden was not broadcast often, see never in the following pages...

Les labels sont bien recouverts de la référence RMC sur les deux faces. Pour rappel c'est en 1985 que Pathe Marconi est devenu Pathe Marconi SA. Je l'ai indiqué dans ma page sur la datation des tirages mais c'est un repère très important. Hier, en visitant un disquaire de ma région qui vendait un LP éponyme d'Iron Maiden je lui ai appris que ce qu'il indiquait comme premier tirage (A tort car avec un label jaune c'est forcément un second tirage) datait en fait de 1985 à cause de la mention PM SA.

The labels are well covered with the RMC reference on both sides. As a reminder, it was in 1985 that Pathe Marconi became Pathe Marconi SA. I indicated it in my page on the dating of prints but it is a very important reference. Yesterday, visiting a record store in my area that sold an eponymous LP of Iron Maiden I learned that what it indicated as first print (wrong because with a yellow label it is necessarily a second print) was actually from 1985 because of the mention PM SA.

Avec cet article j'ai presque terminé l'étude de mon premier lot RMC. Il ne me reste qu'un dernier produit à vous montrer et cela se fera courant semaine prochaine. Vous avez déjà constaté un changement visuel sur l'apparence. Je ne sais pas sil elle sera définitive. Je teste plusieurs apparences et retiendrais celle qui me convient et qui me semblera adaptée et confortable aussi pour vous. D'ailleurs pensez a modifier le niveau de zoom de votre navigateur à au moins 120%.

Comme je vous ai déjà dit je dois modifier 95% de mes pages car elles sont trop longues en termes de caractères. Interrogé le support de mon hébergeur me dit que je dois simplement faire des copier-coller et créer plus de sections dans mes pages. C'est tellement simple de copier-coller énormément de texte et photos sur 150 pages ! Merci du conseil ! Comme je n'ai pas le choix je vais le faire mais cela me prendre plusieurs semaines, voir deux mois pour tout remettre en ordre...

J'ai déjà commencer à le faire sur les 7 premières pages. Et j'en profite pour apporter des améliorations visuelles comme l'ajout de logo pour distinguer les supports (cassettes, vinyles, cd) et des drapeaux pour les pays. Je pense que cela peut vous aider dans la navigation des pages pour les albums et singles. Vous pouvez déjà voir ce que cela donne avec la page 008 de "Running Free".

Et enfin j'ai commencé a remettre en page mon argus. J'en suis à l'année 1990. Patience donc...

Mais je suis plus optimiste que lorsque j'ai découvert l'apparence de mon blog suite à la migration.

As I already told you, I have to modify 95% of my pages because they are too long in terms of characters. I already started to do it on the first 7 pages. And I take the opportunity to make visual improvements such as adding logo to distinguish media (tapes, vinyl, cd) and flags for countries. I think it can help you in the page navigation for albums and singles. You can already see what this looks like with the "Running Free" page 008.

And finally I started to put my argus back on page. I’m in the year 1990. Patience so...

But I’m more optimistic than when I discovered the look of my blog after migration.

Après une journée d'analyse je commence à comprendre l'étendu du problème suite à la migration interne liée au passage en HTTPS du blog.

Mon hébergeur, même s'il m'a prévenu de cette migration, n'a pas conservé la même apparence qu'antérieurement, a perdu au moins deux pages, un article et surtout m'impose actuellement une limite de 76500 caractères par article ! A titre informatif rien que ma page argus comporte 875000 caractères !

Pour ce qui est de l'article perdu (Piece of Mind Radio Monte-Carlo), il a été réintégré.

Pour ce qui est des deux pages, 001 accueil et 002 argus, je dois les recopier entièrement car je n'arrive pas a retirer un attribut qui les empêche de figurer dans la liste des pages sur la droite. La 001 a déjà été refaite et postée. Pour la 002 Argus ce sera plus long car, comme indiqué ci-dessus, je dois la découper en 11 ou 12 fois 76500 caractères pour pouvoir la sauvegarder. Actuellement il m'est impossible, à cause de cette limitation, de modifier 95% des pages de mon blog ! Elles font quasi toutes plus que 76500 caractères et le site m'interdit de les sauvegarder même si je ne change qu'une virgule...

Je me retrouve donc face à un énorme travail de réécriture pour respecter cette limitation de caractère. Je trouve cela un peu irrespectueux de la part de mon hébergeur mais je n'ai pas le choix. Sauf a changer d'hébergeur...

D'autant plus que l'apparence qui m'est proposée ne me permet pas de modification de fond du thème (disposition des différents pavés, photos de fonds, etc).

Quoi qu'il en soit je vous tiendrais régulièrement informé de l'avancée des modifications.

After a day of analysis I begin to understand the extent of the problem following the internal migration related to the passage to HTTPS of the blog.

Especially since the proposed appearance does not allow me to change the background of the theme (arrangement of the different paving stones, photos of backgrounds, etc.).
