   Il y a quelques semaines je vous ai présenté le tirage Français de 186 pour Iron Maiden avec le sticker Pathé Marconi doré. Cette fois ci je vous propose le tirage Français de The number of the beast de 1986. Toujours avec ce beau sticker PM:

   A few weeks ago I presented the French drawing of 186 for Iron Maiden with the golden Pathé Marconi sticker. This time I propose you the French edition of The number of the beast of 1986. Still with this beautiful sticker PM.

   Sa référence est 064 07 608 pour la pochette et 2C 070 07608 pour les labels. En effet il s'agit à la base d'un tirage destiné à l"Europe, avec une pochette commune reprenant la référence Allemande. Et le vinyle à l'intérieur changeait en fonction du pays entre la France, l'Allemagne et la Hollande. D'ailleurs si vous regardez bien la référence au-dessus du sticker PM, le 1C a été effacée:

    Its reference is 064 07 608 for the cover and 2C 070 07608 for the labels. Indeed it is at the base of a print intended for "Europe, with a joint cover taking the German reference. And the vinyl inside changed depending on the country between France, Germany and Holland. If you look at the reference above the PM sticker, the 1C has been deleted.

   Venons-en a ce qui fait la différence entre ce tirage et celui que je possède déjà, qui est celui-ci, à savoir le sticker PM doré:

   Let’s come to the difference between this print and the one I already have, which is this one, the golden PM sticker.

   Ce sticker a donc été apposé par Pathé Marconi en 1986 lors de la mise en vente de ce re-tirage. Il comporte la référence PM 262, qui était celle du tirage précédent, en photo ci-dessus, et la nouvelle référence qui modifiait le prix, donc PM 768. Ce nouveau prix était, comme pour Iron Maiden et Powerslave (mon autre tirage que je possède avec ce sticker) valable jusqu'au 31 décembre 1986. D'où ma datation de 1986 pour cette réédition:

   This sticker was therefore affixed by Pathé Marconi in 1986 when this re-issue went on sale. It includes the reference PM 262, which was that of the previous print, in photo above, and the new reference that changed the price, so PM 768. This new prize was, as for Iron Maiden and Powerslave (my other print I have with this sticker) valid until December 31, 1986. Hence my 1986 date for this reissue.

   Concernant le label il n'est pas encore totalement jaune, comme quelques mois plus tard avec l'édition Fame, mais bien avec le dessin d'Eddie. Le logo Sacem est visible, de même que la référence Française 2C 070 07608. La matrice était M6 338217 2 / 7608 A :

   Concerning the label it is not yet totally yellow, as a few months later with the Fame edition, but with the drawing of Eddie. The Sacem logo is visible, as is the French reference 2C 070 07608. The matrix was M6 338217 2 / 7608 A.

   Mais je souhaite revenir sur le sticker PM doré car tout n'a pas encore été dit sur celui-ci, notamment sur cette version. En effet elle existe en petit rectangle et celui-ci était plus grand. Mais il y a un autre détail a remarquer sur ce sticker de 1986. Les codes sont différents en fonction des titres, alors que pour moi le prix restait le même, sauf probablement pour Live after death s'il a été concerné par cette réédition. Ainsi pour notre article il passait de PM262 à PM768, mais pour Iron Maiden il passait de PM251 à PM760 et pour Powerslave de PM264 à PM 764:

      De ce que je comprends, les prix PM de l'époque, soit PM251 pour Iron Maiden, valait environ 70 Francs. Et 2 ans plus tard le PM 262 pour The number of the Beast devait valoir 72 francs. Et ainsi de suite. Dès lors, en 1985, Pathé Marconi a fait évoluer ces prix PM en fonction des prix de l'époque, même si je suis persuadé que la Fnac, par exemple, vendait tous les vinyles au même prix quel que soit le PM760 ou 764. Ces codes prix donnaient une indication aux revendeurs, libre à eux de le faire ou pas.

   From what I understand, the PM prices of the time, PM251 for Iron Maiden, was worth about 70 Francs. And two years later PM 262 for The number of the Beast was supposed to be worth 72 francs. And so on. Since then, in 1985, Pathé Marconi has changed these PM prices according to the prices of the time, even if I am convinced that Fnac, for example, sold all vinyls at the same price regardless of the PM760 or 764. These price codes gave an indication to resellers, free to do it or not.

   Pour finir cette longue série consacrée au premier album voici un tirage Vénézuélien acheté dans un Salon il y a presque 8 mois. Comme j'ai quasi arrêté d'acheter sur ebay à cause des frais de port et des taxes ce n'est que dans des salons que je peux trouver des produits intéressants sur tous les plans. Dont ce tirage Sud-Américain.

   To finish this long series dedicated to the first album here is a Venezuelan print bought in a record convention almost 8 months ago. As I almost stopped buying on ebay because of shipping costs and taxes it is only in record convention that I can find interesting products on all levels. Including this South American print.

   Sa référence est EMI 102 04492. Cet album a été réalisé en collaboration avec la corporation Los Ruices. Cette société a été fondée vers 1970 pour fabriquer sous licence les tirages pour EMI, RCA et d'autres compagnies, sur le Venezuela. Par la suite Los Ruices a perdu le contrat avec EMI mais a continué, sous d'autres noms, avec RCA, puis a fini par être rachetée dans les années 1990 disparaissant définitivement. On peut aussi noter que le dépôt légal indique la date de 1983.

   Its reference is EMI 102 04492. This album was produced in collaboration with the Los Ruices Corporation. This company was founded around 1970 to license prints for EMI, RCA and other companies in Venezuela. Subsequently Los Ruices lost the contract with EMI but continued, under other names, with RCA, then was eventually bought in the 1990s disappearing permanently. It can also be noted that the legal deposit indicates the date of 1983.

   Cette date n'est pas anormale pour un premier tirage, car il y a eu un décalage dans plusieurs pays, sur différents continents, entre la date officielle de sortie et celle au Venezuela par exemple. Outre le manque de notoriété du groupe à cette époque, les infrastructures locales ne permettaient pas non plus de fabriquer un produit correct en 1980. D'ailleurs la qualité des produits en Amérique du Sud, mais aussi ailleurs, fait que souvent ils ont mal vieilli et que trouver une pochette et un disque implacable tient du miracle. Probablement à cause du climat, mais aussi du manque de soin pour le stockage. Sur le dos de la couverture on trouve un sticker rond posé sur l'impression blanche d'origine. Je pense qu'il s'agit d'un sticker modifiant une taxe ou un prix indicatif, comme les stickers Pathe Marconi.

   This date is not abnormal for a first draw, because there was a gap in several countries, on different continents, between the official release date and that in Venezuela for example. In addition to the group’s lack of notoriety at the time, local infrastructure also did not allow for the production of a correct product in 1980. Moreover, the quality of the products in South America, but also elsewhere, makes that often they have aged badly and that finding a cover and a relentless record is a miracle. Probably because of the climate, but also the lack of care for storage. On the back of the cover is a round sticker placed on the original white print. I think it is a sticker modifying a tax or an indicative price, like Pathe Marconi stickers.

   Le label est jaune avec le texte rouge. La "Corporaçion Los Ruices" figure bien sur le texte des crédits. Les titres figurent en Anglais et en Espagnol. A ce propos le titre Prowler est traduit ici en Vago (vagabond), tandis que sur le tirage Espagnol il est écrit Vagabundo. La matrice est bien comme la référence mais avec un C devant, soit C 102 04492.

   The label is yellow with the red text. The "Corporaçion Los Ruices" appears on the text of the credits. The titles are in English and Spanish. In this regard the title Prowler is translated here into Vago (vagabond), while on the Spanish print it is written Vagabundo. The matrix is like the reference but with a C in front, C 102 04492.

   Changeons encore de pays avec un produit Italien d'Iron Maiden, tirage initial de 1980. Sa référence est EMI Italiana Spa 3C 064 07269 comme l'indique les marques au dos de la pochette:

   Let’s change countries again with an Italian product from Iron Maiden, original edition from 1980. Its reference is EMI Italiana Spa 3C 064 07269 as indicated by the marks on the back of the cover.

   Venons-en au label puisque c'est la principale originalité de ce produit avec ce beau label EMI jaune et rouge, dont la couleur diffère légèrement selon les pays. Le rouge plus être très nette, ou tirer vers le rose, tandis que le jaune est soit franc, soit orangé. Ici c'est plutôt un rouge foncé et un jaune sableux, même s'il faut se méfier des rendus du scanner:

   Let’s come to the label since it is the main originality of this product with this beautiful yellow and red EMI label, whose color differs slightly depending on the country. The red more be very clear, or pull towards the pink, while the yellow is either frank or orange. Here it is rather a dark red and a sandy yellow, even if one must be wary of the renderings of the scanner.

   Terminons cet article finalement assez court et simple sur la matrice, qui est 07269 A suivi de la date du 15 mai 1980, habitude très pratique de la part des Italiens pour dater les tirages. Cela signifie que ce disque a été vendu en léger décalage sur le marché Italien par rapport aux autres pays. A noter également le tampon encré des droits de taxes, là aussi un classique en Italie.

   Let us finish this article finally rather short and simple on the matrix, which is 07269 A followed by the date of May 15, 1980, very practical habit on the part of the Italians to date the draws. This means that this disc was sold slightly off the Italian market compared to other countries. Note also the inked stamp of tax duties, again a classic in Italy.

   Comme promise je débute avec cet article une longue série d'articles sur des 33 tours. Et dès le départ je vous propose du lourd: le 7ème tirage Français d'Iron Maiden, et avec des variantes mes 9ème et 10ème disques Français différents.

   As promised I start with this article a long series of articles on 33 rounds. And from the start I propose you some heavy: the 7th French edition of Iron Maiden, and with variants my 9th and 10th different French discs.

   Et si vous voyez deux disques sur la photo c'est qu'il y a effectivement une différence entre les deux. Premièrement, ce tirage date de 1986. Je m'étais arrêté en 1985 avec un tirage Français imprimé en Hollande (indication sur la pochette) et un label jaune. Je le date de 1985 car il comporte le nom de Pathe Marconi SA sur les labels, et on sait que ce changement à eu lieu en 1985 lors de la sortie de Live after death. Mais effectivement il peut dater entre 1986 ou 1988, mais faute de meilleure indication j'ai choisi 1985.

   And if you see two discs in the photo, it’s because there is a difference between the two. First of all, this print is from 1986. I stopped in 1985 with a French print in Holland (indication on the cover) and a yellow label. I date it from 1985 because it includes the name of Pathe Marconi SA on the labels, and we know that this change occurred in 1985 when Live after death was released. But indeed it can date between 1986 or 1988, but for lack of better indication I chose 1985.

  Les deux tirages que je vous montre en photo sont issus de la même famille. La pochette est la même que ce que je vous ai décrit précédemment, de même que les labels.    Sur la photo vous pouvez-voir un élément que je vais maintenant vous montrer. Un sticker indiquant une offre de prix réduit valable du 28 septembre au 31 décembre 1986. Ce sticker ne figure pas sur le tirage de 1985. Et donc déjà ce sticker nous indique que ces deux tirages datent de 1986:

   On the picture you can you see item that I will now show you. A sticker indicating a discount offer valid from September 28 to December 31, 1986. This sticker is not included in the 1985 draw. And so already this sticker tells us that these two prints date from 1986.

   Sur la photo vous pouvez également voir un sticker prix sur un disque, et pas sur l'autre. On y reviendra. Et maintenant voici un autre sticker collé au dos des deux disques:

   Si vous lisez régulièrement mes articles vous avez déjà vu ce sticker doré Pathé Marconi sur un tirage de Powerslave. Ce sticker indique un changement de code prix PM, passant de 251 à 760. Et confirme la date de fin d'offre au 31 décembre 1986. Nous sommes donc en présence de deux 33 tours objet du retirage de 1986, à durée limité, et donc très rare. Car soit en 1986 les fans Français l'avaient déjà, et donc ils ne l'ont pas acheté, soit beaucoup ont enlevé les deux stickers, le rendant identique au tirage de 1985. Et je pense que les 5 premiers albums du groupe ont fait l'objet de ce retirage limité en 1985. J'en possède maintenant 2.

   If you regularly read my articles you have already seen this golden Pathé Marconi sticker on a Powerslave print. This sticker indicates a change of price code PM from 251 to 760. And confirms the offer end date to December 31, 1986. We are therefore in the presence of two 33 towers object of the reprint of 1986, with limited duration, and therefore very rare. Because either in 1986 the French fans already had it, and so they did not buy it, or many removed the two stickers, making it identical to the 1985 edition. And I think the band’s first five albums were the subject of this limited reprint in 1985. I now own two.

   Mais cela n'explique pas pourquoi je vous montre deux disques car s'ils sont identiques il n'y a pas d'intérêt. En fait sur les deux un est un tirage promotionnel ! En voici le preuve:

   But that does not explain why I show you two discs because if they are identical there is no interest. In fact, on both, one is a promotional draw! Upper is the proof.

   Au sujet des tirages promos, pour la France, j'ai déjà indiqué qu'il existe plusieurs tirages promos pour chaque titre. Je ne sais pas combien mais peut-être deux ou trois. Il existerait un tirage promo par retirage en France. Je l'ai observé et confirmé de part des pochettes et matrices différentes. Et expliqué par le fait que Pathé Marconi devait avoir pris l'habitude de sortir de la chaine quelques disques pour les tamponner, que ce soit un tirage initial ou un retirage. Et c'est logique car si vous voulez vendre un retirage il faut que la presse en parle. Et quoi de plus simple d'envoyer un cadeau promo à un journalise de Best, Enfer magazine ou hard rock magazine.

   Regarding the promotional prints, for France, I have already indicated that there are several promotional prints for each title. I don’t know how many, but maybe two or three. There would be a reprint promo in France. I observed and confirmed it from different covers and dies. And explained by the fact that Pathé Marconi must have taken the habit of releasing some discs from the chain to stamp them, whether it is an initial print or a reprint. And it makes sense because if you want to sell a reprint, the press must talk about it. And what could be easier to send a promo gift to a newspaper of Best, Enfer magazine or hard rock magazine.

Titre: Ed hunter

Année: 1999

Pays: Royaume-Uni

   Ce produit est intéressant à plus d'un titre. Tout d'abord Ed hunter est un coffret assez étrange dans la discographie du groupe. Best of agrémenté d'un jeu vidéo, il est sorti seulement trois ans après Best of the beast, ce qui est très peu. Donc un best of de trop peut-être. Et surtout un jeu video pas très réussi non plus, sorte de fps copié sur les standards de l'époque, comme Quake (1996) ou Doom (1993), mais sans le talent et surtout les moyens. Même le format n'est pas réussi, avec une grosse boite finalement assez vide. Imaginez à la place un triple vinyle avec le DVD du jeu inclus ! 

   This product is interesting in more than one way. First of all Ed hunter is a rather strange box set in the discography of the band. Best of with a video game, it was released only three years after Best of the beast, which is very little. So a best of too much perhaps. And especially a video game not very successful either, kind of fps copied on the standards of the time, like Quake (1996) or Doom (1993), but without the talent and especially the means. Even the format is not successful, with a big box finally quite empty. Imagine instead a triple vinyl with the DVD of the game included ! 

   Ensuite, assez étrangement, il n'existe pas de tirage Europe commun. Je veux dire que EMI n'a pas fabriqué un seul tirage pour toute l'Europe, un pour les USA et deux pour le Japon. Les deux derniers sont réels, et figure dans ma page dédiée au titre, mais pour l'Europe il en existe 3: Un avec le texte Français pour l'avertissement médical, un avec ce même texte en Allemand et un dernier avec le logo SIAE pour l'Italie. Pour schématiser on pourrait dire qu'il existe un tirage pour la Francophonie et autre pour le reste de l'Europe. Pour être complet il y a aussi quatre autres tirages étrangers (Taïwan, Brésil, Canada et Mexique) et des CD single promos.

   Then, strangely enough, there is no common Europe draw. I mean, EMI didn’t make a single print for all of Europe, one for the USA and two for Japan. The last two are real, and appear in my page dedicated to the title, but for Europe there are 3: One with the French text for the medical warning, one with the same text in German and one with the SIAE logo for Italy. To summarise, we could say that there is a draw for the Francophonie and other for the rest of Europe. To be complete there are also four other prints foreign prints (Taiwan, Brazil, Canada and Mexico) and single CD promos.

   Mais ce qui est extraordinaire quand on collectionne c'est que l'on tombe toujours sur un produit à part, une pépite, une fake, en fonction de la chance. Pour ma part j'ai trouvé dans un salon un tirage avec texte Français mais destiné au marché Anglais, et plus particulièrement un tirage promo. Le voici:

   But what is extraordinary when you collect is that you always come across a separate product, a nugget, a fake, depending on luck. For my part I found in a show a print with French text but intended for the English market, and more particularly a promo print.

    Ce sticker promo je l'ai déjà vu sur divers produits. Il s'agit d'un sticker promotionnel typique pour le Royaume-Uni. La question est maintenant de savoir s'il est authentique. Le voici en détail:

   This promo sticker I have already seen on various products. This is a typical promotional sticker for the UK. The question now is whether it is genuine.

   Ma méthode est simple: j'utilise un compte fil (une loupe) pour examiner le papier et l'impression. Sur une reproduction de ce type de sticker le papier ne sera pas blanc, mais rempli de tout petit point de couleur. C'est ce qui arrive avec une imprimante domestique. Et de plus le papier sera lisse, voir brillant, avec des bords mal coupés. Ici le papier est cotonneux, ce qui indique une confection industrielle, d'un blanc immaculé et les bords sont francs. Le texte est noir avec une légère bavure de l'encre, à cause de la qualité du papier. Donc oui, ce sticker est officiel.

   My method is simple: I use a thread count (a magnifying glass) to examine paper and printing. On a reproduction of this type of sticker the paper will not be white, but filled with any small dot of color. This is what happens with a domestic printer. And moreover the paper will be smooth, even shiny, with poorly cut edges. Here the paper is cotton, which indicates an industrial confection, immaculate white and the edges are frank. The text is black with a slight smudge of ink, because of the quality of the paper. So yes, this sticker is official.

   Une fois ce point réglé, il amène une seconde question: A-t-il été collé dessus en 1999 par EMI ou plus récemment par un tiers qui posséderait un stock de vieux stickers officiels ? Je ne peux pas répondre à cette interrogation et je suis obligé de prendre le risque de considérer que oui, il date bien de 1999. Et donc qu'il s'agit bien d'un tirage promo Anglais. Je suis d'accord que l'on peut l'interpréter autrement mais, sans être naïf, un collectionneur doit examiner le produit qu'il a en main, voir les détails, les anomalies éventuelles, les preuves, et ensuite prendre position. C'est ce que j'ai toujours fait.

   Once this point is settled, it brings a second question: Was it glued on in 1999 by EMI or more recently by a third party who would have a stock of old official stickers? I cannot answer this question and I am obliged to take the risk of considering that, yes, it dates from 1999. And so that it is indeed an English promo draw. I agree that it can be interpreted differently but, without being naive, a collector must examine the product he has in hand, see the details, any anomalies, the evidence, and then take a stand. That’s what I’ve always done.

      Avant dernier CD pour cette série, ce tirage est assez identique à un autre. Voyons cela en détail. Sa référence est EMI CDEM 633. Au dos du boitier on retrouve un cartouche avec le code barre 7243 5 53480 2 9. Ce CD pour l'Europe comportait 3 titres:

   Before the last CD for this series, this print is quite identical to another one. Let’s look at this in detail. Its reference is EMI CDEM 633. On the back of the case is a cartridge with bar code 7243 5 53480 2 9. This CD for Europe had 3 tracks.

   Ce tirage comprend aussi un poster, et assez rapidement je me rends compte qu'il existe un autre CD Europe avec 3 titres qui lui ressemble bougrement. Voyons voir ce qui a justifié ces deux tirages.

   This print also includes a poster, and quite quickly I realize that there is another CD Europe with 3 tracks that looks like it. Let’s see what justified these two draws.

   Dans la description du produit de ce jour, j'ai indiqué qu'il portait la référence CDEM 633. Il se trouve que le second produit ne comporte lui aucune référence à part le code barre. Ce code barre est 7243 5 53524 2 2. Voici le scan du dos du boitier:

   In today’s product description, I indicated that it was CDEM 633. It turns out that the second product has no reference to it except the bar code. This barcode is 7243 5 53524 2 2. Here is the scan of the back of the case upper.

   Immédiatement on peut constater qu'outre le code barre, la grande différence est le gros cartouche sur le copy controlled. Deux produits, même titres, références différentes, mais juste une protection anti-copie pour l'un et absente pour l'autre. Pourquoi ? Aucune explication. On sait que Dance of death a été retiré plus tard sans copy controlled, mais je n'ai pas d'indice qui me permettent de dire que ce single a fait l'objet d'un retirage ultérieur. La matrix est la même et le groupe n'a pas pour habitude de retirer les anciens singles.

   Immediately we can see that besides the bar code, the big difference is the large cartridge on the copy controlled. Two products, same titles, different references, but just a copy protection for one and absent for the other. Why? No explanation. We know that Dance of death was later removed without copy controlled, but I have no clue that allow me to say that this single was the subject of a later removal. The matrix is the same and the band doesn’t usually remove old singles.

   Il existe donc deux tirages Europe pour ce 3 titres. Et au niveau du CD, quelles sont les différences ? Les voici:

   So there are two European prints for this song. And on the CD, what are the differences? Here they are upper.

   On note que la référence CDEM 633 figure sur le premier CD, pas sur le second. Les codes barres sont aussi différents. Et le gros logo Copy controlled se voit sur le second.

   Note that CDEM 633 is on the first CD, not the second CD. Bar codes are also different. And the big Copy controlled logo is on the second one.

   Même les posters ont droits a des modifications. Sur le scan posté plus haut la référence CDEM 633 a été imprimée, pas sur le poster ci-dessous:

   Even the posters have rights to modifications. On the scan above the reference CDEM 633 was printed, not on the poster upper.

   Par contre je ne sais pas si le tirage copy controlled avait un sticker rouge sur la boitier, comme pour le CDEM 633 tel que celui-ci. Peut-être que ce sticker a été enlevé sur mon exemplaire.

   However, I don’t know if the copy controlled print had a red sticker on the case, as for the CDEM 633 such as this upper. Maybe this sticker was removed from my copy.

   En 2003 EMI a donc mis en vente deux produits musicalement identiques, mais avec des références différentes, principalement à cause de cette protection anti-copie. C'est assez étrange avec le recul mais cela nous permet, à nous les collectionneurs, de profiter de ces tirages particuliers et de nous replonger ans une époque bénie où le label était capable de mettre en vente 7 tirages différents pour un single...

   In 2003 EMI put on sale two products musically identical, but with different references, mainly because of this anti-copy protection. It’s quite strange in retrospect but it allows us collectors to enjoy these particular prints and to dive back into a blessed time when the label was able to put on sale 7 different prints for a single...

   Ces dates figurent aux deux endroits: au dos du boiter et sur l'obi. La date du 28 janvier 2004 est imprimée a deux reprises. Cela signifie que la date de sortie et de mise en vente est la même. Ou qu'il n'y a pas eu de réédition. Sur les albums vous pourrez voir la date initiale de sortie, et la date de réédition. Seconde information sur ce dos de boitier, le sticker promo Japonais. Je vous ai déjà alerté sur des faux CD promo Japonais vendus sur ebay, surtout en provenance d'Israel ou d'Italie. Dans les pages dédiées je vous explique comment les identifier. Là il n'y a aucun souci, le papier est bien blanc et les bords nets.

   L'obi est très colorée, avec un beau contraste entre le bleu, le noir et le rouge. La date de fin d'offre à prix réduit est fixée au 27 juillet 2004. Comme je vous l'ai déjà expliqué les CD japonais sont vendus moins chers pendant un certain temps (6 mois en général) et cela est indiqué sur l'obi. On peut comparer cela a des prix réduits à la Fnac, mais sur un délai plus court.

  The obi is very colorful, with a beautiful contrast between blue, black and red. The end date of the offer at a reduced price is fixed on July 27, 2004. As I already explained, Japanese CDs are sold cheaper for a certain time (6 months in general) and this is indicated on the obi. We can compare this to reduced prices at the Fnac, but on a shorter time.

   Et enfin le CD. Il comporte la mention de promotion en son centre, tout autour du rond central. Là aussi c'est un bon moyen de détecter des faux en observant la qualité de l'impression et l'alignement des lettres. Comme toujours la matrix au dos reprend la référence.

   De retour du Hellfest 2023 je poste quelques photos du concert du 17 juin. Je ne vais pas détailler le déroulement du show, que j'ai trouvé très bien. Je vais juste vous donner quelques impressions personnelles et celles recueillies auprès d'amis qui ne sont pas des fans du groupe.

   Back from Hellfest 2023 I post some pictures of the concert on June 17. I will not detail the progress of the show, which I found very well. I will just give you some personal impressions and those gathered from friends who are not fans of the band.

   Connaissant la set list je savais que ce show serait composé de 40% de titres de Somewhere in time, de 40% de Senjutsu et de 20% de titres phares. J'ai donc retrouvé avec plaisir plus chansons de 1986. J'ai enfin compris le rapport entre Somewhere in time et cette tournée: un prétexte à voyager dans le temps, qui est le thème de cet album. C'est donc un parti pris risqué. On en reparlera.

   Knowing the set list I knew that this show would be composed of 40% Somewhere in time titles, 40% Senjutsu and 20% flagship titles. So I found with pleasure more songs of 1986. I finally understood the connection between Somewhere in time and this tour: a pretext to travel in time, which is the theme of this album. So it’s a risky bias. We’ll talk about it again.

   Le décorum est assez simple, avec la même organisation de scène avec la structure en U inversé. Nico est toujours au centre, limite caché. Les différents tableaux dessinés représentant les titres défilent. Sobre et simple. Et à part deux effigies géantes et une tête gonflable d'Eddie, il n'y a aucune surprise. Au final les décors sont moins recherchés que lors de la tournée précédente.

   The decorum is quite simple, with the same stage organization with the inverted U structure. Nico is always in the center, hidden limit. The various drawn tables representing the titles scroll. Simple and simple. And aside from two giant effigies and an inflatable head of Eddie, there are no surprises. In the end the sets are less sought after than during the previous tour.

   Bruce est beaucoup moins mobile aussi. Steve, Dave et Adrian assurent, tandis que Janick est (enfin) sobre. Il ne fait presque pas tournoyer sa guitare !

   Bruce is a lot less mobile too. Steve, Dave and Adrian are good, while Janick is (finally) sober. He barely spins his guitar!

   Mon avis personnel est que ce show était très sympa sur le fait d'écouter des titres de 1986 et ceux du dernier album. Death of the celts passe mieux en concert que je le redoutais. J'ai trouvé Nico très fatigué à la fin du show. Au final je trouve que cette tournée se fait à l'économie en terme de décor et que le groupe assure sans en faire trop.

   My personal opinion is that this show was very nice about listening to songs from 1986 and those of the last album. Death of the celts is better in concert than I feared. I found Nico very tired at the end of the show. In the end I find that this tour is done to the economy in terms of decor and that the band does without doing too much.

   Et maintenant les avis de mes amis présents, qui je le répète ne sont pas des fans: trop de titres trop long, déçu par les décors moins recherchés qu'en 2018 (le spitfire !!), beaucoup d'erreurs de Nico à la batterie, pas assez de hits, un grand groupe mais au final peu de surprise et pas assez de titres connus. Je n'ai pu que répondre que, effectivement, ce show n'est pas fait pour un festival !

   And now the reviews of my friends present, who I repeat are not fans: too many tracks too long, disappointed by the less sought after scenery than in 2018 (the spitfire!), many mistakes from Nico to the drums, not enough hits, a big band but in the end little surprise and not enough known tracks. I could only reply that, indeed, this show is not made for a festival!

   Pas d'article sur un produit mais un petit billet sur le début de la nouvelle tournée du groupe qui passera, pour la France, par Clisson le 17 juin. Le premier concert à eu lieu hier et la set list a été dévoilée. Cette tournée est donc quasi entièrement consacrée aux albums Senjutsu et Somewhere in time.

   Le groupe ne pouvait pas reprendre les mêmes titres que lors de la tournée précédente, et c'est toujours un partie pris que de composer une set list orientée sur un thème, en l’occurrence le passé. On avait compris que l'album Somewhere in time serait à l'honneur, ce qui est assez étonnant l'année des 40 ans de Piece of mind. Mais pourquoi pas. C'est un album qui a été décrié lors de sa sortie pour ses parties de claviers mais qui a depuis retrouvé ses fans grâce à d'excellents titres.

Venons donc à cette set list qui figure sur le site du groupe, les nombreuses videos sur you tube et donc des visuels ont été diffusés sur Facebook en fin de journée hier: Il y aura donc 5 titres de Somewhere in time dont, pour la première fois en live Alexander the great. A noter que le show débute par Caught somewhere in time, single très sympa mais peu connu des non fan. Je pense notamment aux show qui seront donnés lors des festivals.

   Viennent ensuite 1 titre d'Iron Maiden, 1 titre de The number of the beast, 1 titre de Piece of mind, 1 titre de Seventh son of a seventh son et 1 titre de Fear of the dark. On peut noter, et je m'en plains personnellement, l'absence de Powerslave dans ce retour vers le passé.

   Tous les autres titres, soit 5, seront issus de Senjutsu. Et là je note ce qui est pour moi le plus gros écueil de ce show: Que vient faire Death of the Celts dans cette set list ?

   Ce titre est très long et c'est pour moi le plus faible de Senjutsu. Pourquoi ne pas l'avoir remplacé par deux titres courts et directs, tels Aces high ou même un titre de Killers puisque lui aussi est oublié. Nous aurions eu un réel mixte entre passé et présent. Un hommage aux premiers albums et une découverte live pour quelques titres de Senjustu, comme Hell on earth.

   A part le point faible de Death of the Celts, je suis impatient de découvrir les titres live, certains jamais joués et d'autres joués seulement durant la tournée initiale de Somewhere in time. D'autant plus que les effets visuels ont l'air sympas, ainsi que les personnages animés sur scène. Rendez-vous le 17 juin à Clisson pour vivre cela !

   No article about a product but a small post about the start of the new tour of the band which will be, for France, by Clisson on June 17. The first concert took place yesterday and the set list was unveiled. This tour is almost entirely devoted to the albums Senjutsu and Somewhere in time.

   The band could not repeat the same tracks as during the previous tour, and it is always a part taken to compose a set list oriented on a theme, in this case the past. We understood that the album Somewhere in time would be in the spotlight, which is quite surprising the year of the 40 years of Piece of mind. But why not. It is an album that was decried during its release for its parts of keyboards but that has since found its fans thanks to excellent tracks.

   So let’s come to this set list that appears on the site of the band, the many videos on you tube and therefore visuals were broadcast on Facebook at the end of the day yesterday: There will be 5 tracks of Somewhere in time including, for the first time live Alexander the great. Note that the show starts with Caught somewhere in time, a very nice single but little known by non fans. I am thinking in particular of the shows that will be given at the festivals.   

   Next comes 1 Iron Maiden title, 1 The number of the beast title, 1 Piece of mind title, 1 Seventh son of a seventh son and 1 Fear of the dark title. We can note, and I personally complain, the absence of Powerslave in this return to the past.

   All other titles, 5, will come from Senjutsu. And here I note what is for me the biggest pitfall of this show: What comes to do Death of the Celts in this set list ?

   This title is very long and it is for me the weakest of Senjutsu. Why not replace it with two short and direct titles, such as Aces high or even a Killers title since he too is forgotten. We would have had a real mix between past and present. A tribute to the first albums and a live discovery for some Senjustu titles, like Hell on earth.

   Apart from the weakness of Death of the Celts, I can’t wait to discover the live tracks, some never played and others played only during the initial tour of Somewhere in time. Especially since the visual effects look nice, as well as the animated characters on stage. See you on June 17 in Clisson to experience this!
