   Lorsque j'écris que ce produit est français je sais que la plupart me prendrons pour un fou. En effet l''obi indique clairement une origine japonaise. Les deux stickers de prix, dont le dernier baissé à 15€, n'indiquent en rien une provenance. Mais revenons à son achat. J'ai trouvé ce CD de Virtual XI, neuf et encore sous cellophane, sur ebay. 

   When I write that this product is French, I know most people will take me for a fool. Indeed, the obi clearly indicates a Japanese origin. The two price stickers, including the last one reduced to €15, do not indicate any origin. But let’s return to its purchase. I found this Virtual XI CD, new and still in cellophane, on eBay. 

   Et il s'agit bien de l'édition double CD avec calendrier vendue sous la référence EMI Toshiba TOCP 50440-1. Le boitier est bien garni avec donc le CD de l'album, un calendrier, un insert japonais, une obi, et un second CD contenant 2 titres live. Ce n'est pas un produit rare, bien qu'ici il soit neuf.

   And it is indeed the double CD edition with calendar sold under reference EMI Toshiba TOCP 50440-1. The case is well stocked with the album CD, a calendar, a Japanese insert, an obi, and a second CD containing 2 live tracks. It is not a rare product, although here it is new.

   Mais ce que mon exemplaire a de particulier, et ce qui le rend exceptionnel, c'est qu'il comporte le fameux sticker Pathé Marconi doré, sticker apposé sur les produits importés du Royaume-Uni, d'Allemagne ou du Japon. A la base tous les produits Pathé Marconi comportent un code prix qui est imprimé sur la pochette. Pour les 45 tours il commence par le chiffre 1, pour les 33 tours par le chiffre 2 et enfin pour les CD par 5. Mais cela est théorique et, en fonction des années, il y a eu des variations. Ainsi on pouvait lire du PM 100, du PM 251 ou encore du PM 512. Cela indiquait au disquaire, à une époque sans informatique, à quel prix vendre ce produit. Cela a perduré jusqu'au début des années 2000 pour disparaitre définitivement avec l’essor des codes-barres et de l'informatisation.

   But what makes my copy special and exceptional is that it features the famous golden Pathé Marconi sticker, a sticker applied to products imported from the United Kingdom, Germany or Japan. Basically, all Pathé Marconi products have a price code that is printed on the pouch. For the 45s, it starts with the number 1, for the 33s with the number 2, and finally for the CDs with a 5. But this is theoretical and, depending on the years, there have been variations. So we could read PM 100, PM 251 or even PM 512. This indicated to the record store, in a computer-free era, at what price to sell this product. This continued until the early 2000s and disappeared definitively with the rise of barcodes and computerization.

   J'ai déjà parlé de ce principe typiquement français mais je le rappelle régulièrement pour ceux qui n'ont pas lu mes articles précédents. Et donc, pour ce produit, le code PM était 617. Et le sticker doré a été collé sur l'arrière du boitier comme ceci:

   I have already subscribed to this typically French principle, but I remind you of it regularly for those who have not read my previous articles. And so, for this product, the PM code was 617. And the golden sticker was stuck to the back of the case like this.

   Originellement tous les exemplaires importés en France, et probablement vendus en 1998 au Virgin Megastoire de Paris, comportait ce sticker. Mais combien ? 10 ou 20 ? Pas plus. Et sur les 20 au grand maximum, presque tous ont été ouverts, et la cellophane jetée. Le sticker PM doré a disparu. Mais pas ici. L'exemplaire que je vous montre dans cet article est probablement unique. Pour moi. Je vous laisse en juger...

   Originally all the copies imported in France, and probably sold in 1998 to the Virgin Megastoire of Paris, included this sticker. But how many? 10 or 20? Not more. And of the maximum 20, almost all have been opened, and the cellophane thrown away. The golden PM sticker has disappeared. But not here. The copy I’m showing you in this article is probably unique.    Celui-ci j l'ai acheté sur Ebay il y a plusieurs mois. C'est un rare (non pas par le nombre, mais par le type) digipack vendu en 1992 pour Fear of the dark. Depuis 2019 nous avons tous notre digipack européen pour ce titre, mais en 1992 il n'existait que peu de digipack pour les albums. Pour des singles oui, comme From here to eternity en tirage UK aussi en 1992.

   This one I bought on eBay several months ago. This is a rare (not in number, but by type) digipack sold in 1992 for Fear of the Dark. Since 2019 we all have our European digipack for this title, but in 1992 there was only a few digipacks for albums. For singles, yes, like From here to eternity in the UK edition also in 1992.

   Sa référence est EMI Music group Autralasia 7808612. Le digipack comporte un livret agrafé au centre. Au dos il y a les crédits mais aussi un code barre, soit 07777808612.

   Its reference is EMI Music group Autralasia 7808612. The digipack has a stapled booklet in the center. On the back there are the credits but also a barcode, which is 07777808612.

   Et ce que l'on peut voir sur l'arrière c'est que la particularité de ce digipack est de contenir 15 titres au lieu de 12. En effet 3 titres live ont été rajoutés pour notre grand bonheur, même si ce sont des titres de No prayer for the dying, timing oblige. Et on retrouve ces 15 titre sur le CD qui est de type argent. Le matrix de ce CD a été faite par SM, qui est un graveur indonésien qui a aussi opéré en Australie qui se nomme aujourd'hui DiscWorld (DW): 

   And what we can see on the back is that the particularity of this digipack is to contain 15 tracks instead of 12. Indeed, 3 live tracks have been added for our great pleasure, even if they are tracks from No prayer for the dying, timing oblige. And we find these 15 tracks on the CD, which is silver. The matrix of this CD was made by SM, who is an Indonesian disc manufacturer who also worked in Australia and is now called DiscWorld (DW).

   Au final un beau produit original qui fait son effet dans une collection !

   Je pense avoir acheté ce double CD de Live after death lors du Hellfest 2025, en juin dernier donc. Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas ce festival il y a un grand market avec de nombreux vendeurs de matériel, de vêtements et de produits musicaux. En fonction des années c'est plus ou moins intéressant et cela dépend aussi de la programmation. Cette année, avec la venue d'Iron Maiden, il y aura, je pense, de nombreux vinyles et CD en vente. Mais outre la qualité des stands il y a aussi un critère primordial à prendre en compte: la chaleur ! 

   I think I bought this double CD of Live after death at the Hellfest 2025 festival, last June then. For those who do not know this festival there is a big market with many sellers of equipment, clothing and musical products. Depending on the years, it is more or less interesting and it also depends on the programming. This year, with the arrival of Iron Maiden, there will be, I think, many vinyls and CDs on sale. But in addition to the quality of the stands, there is also an essential criterion to take into account: the heat! 

   En effet ce market se déroule sous deux énormes chapiteaux et lorsque le soleil tape dur sur la toile la chaleur dans ce market est insupportable. Du coup, en fonction de cela, c'est plus ou moins agréable de le visiter et de prendre son temps pour fouiller dans les bacs. Sois j'y passe une heure et je trouve des belles pépites, soit j'y passe dix minutes et je regarde rapidement car c'est une torture. Et je ne parle même pas des vendeurs qui doivent subirent ces températures...

   Indeed, this market takes place under two enormous tents and when the sun hits hard on the canvas, the heat in this market is unbearable. So, depending on that, it’s more or less pleasant to visit it and take your time to rummage through the bins. Either I spend an hour there and find beautiful nuggets, or I spend ten minutes there and I look quickly because it’s a torture. And I’m not even talking about the sellers who have to endure these temperatures...

   Revenons au produit. Il s'agit de la réédition de 1998 sous forme de remaster, avec double CD, réalisé par EMI Australasia:

   Back to the product. This is the 1998 reissue as a remaster, with double CD, made by EMI Australasia.

   La matrix des CD a été réalisées par Regency media. Cette société Australienne, aujourd'hui disparue, était spécialisée dans le divertissement avec une filiale de fabrication de CD et DVD. Mes recherches ne permettant pas de dire si cette société existait déjà en 1998 sous cette forme juridique ou si le nom n'existe que depuis 2006. Cela indiquerait que ce remaster est une réédition de 2006 et non pas le premier tirage de 1998. Si vous suivez mon blog vous savez que, pour l'Europe, il existe une dizaine de rééditions CD pour les remaster 98. Cela est donc aussi valable pour d'autres pays:

   The CD matrix was created by Regency media. This Australian company, now defunct, specialized in entertainment with a subsidiary manufacturing CDs and DVDs. My research does not allow me to say if this company already existed in 1998 in this legal form or if the name has only existed since 2006. This would indicate that this remaster is a 2006 reissue and not the first edition of 1998. If you follow my blog you know that, for Europe, there are about ten CD reissues for the 98 remasters. This is therefore also valid for other countries.

   Faute de matériel de comparaison je vais considérer mon produit comme datant de 1998. Il sera temps de modifier par la suite si je trouve un autre remaster 98 Australien avec une matrix différente.

   Due to the lack of comparison material, I will consider my product as dating from 1998. It will be time to modify later if I find another Australian 98 remaster with a different matrix.

   Il y a quelques semaines j'ai publié un article sur les rééditions américaines en vinyle et j'ai écrit que, à priori, il n'existait pas de réédition pour Seventh son of a seventh son. Je me suis trompé. En effet un lecteur m'a rapidement écrit pour me confirmer son existence. Mais pourquoi se doute ? 

   A few weeks ago I published an article on American vinyl reissues and I wrote that, on the face of it, there was no reissue for Seventh son of a seventh son. I made a mistake. Indeed, a reader quickly wrote to me to confirm its existence. But why suspect? 

   J'ai régulièrement acheté les produits américains sur Ebay. Mais avec l’augmentation des prix et des taxes je n'en achète plus en occasion. Et pour les rééditions je vais sur Amazon.com. C'est simple, rapide et surtout pas de mauvaise surprise sur le prix de port et les taxes. Amazon s'occupe de tout. Mais lorsque le produit n'y figure pas, et qu'il est aussi absent sur Ebay, cela me laisse a penser qu'il n'existe pas ou plus. C'est ce qu'il s'est passé avec Seventh son. Du coup, une fois la certitude de son existence, où l'acheter ? Je me suis rabattu sur Discogs, mon meilleur ennemi ! 

   I regularly bought American products on eBay. But with the increase in prices and taxes, I no longer buy them second-hand. And for reissues, I go to Amazon.com. It’s simple, fast, and above all no unpleasant surprises about the shipping price and taxes. Amazon takes care of everything. But when the product is not there, and it is also absent on eBay, it makes me think that it does not exist or no longer exists. That’s what happened with Seventh son. So, once the certainty of its existence, where to buy it? I fell back on Discogs, my best enemy! 

   J'ai effectivement trouvé cette réédition, et j'ai sélectionné le vendeur qui offrait le meilleur ratio entre le prix et le port. J'ai donc payé aussi 12€ de taxes d'importation. Et j'ai attendu. Au bout de 3 semaines j'ai contacté le vendeur qui m'a répondu que le vinyle partait dans la semaine. Pas très conviviale comme attitude. Et j'ai encre attendu. Sans nouvelle je suis allez sur Paypal, mon moyen de paiement, et j'ai vu un numéro de suivi. Car le vendeur, toujours aussi convivial, n'a pas pris le temps de me l'envoyer ! Et en regardant le suivi j'ai constaté que le colis m'attendait depuis 5 jours dans mon bureau de poste, puisque le facteur, sans que je sache pourquoi, n'a pas déposé d'avis dans ma boite...

   I indeed found this reissue, and I selected the seller who offered the best ratio between the price and the port. So I also paid 12€ in import taxes. And I waited. After 3 weeks, I contacted the seller who replied that the vinyl was leaving during the week. Not very friendly as an attitude. And I waited. Without news, I went to Paypal, my payment method, and I saw a tracking number. Because the seller, always so friendly, didn’t take the time to send it to me! And looking at the tracking, I noticed that the package had been waiting for me for 5 days in my post office, since the postman, without knowing why, did not leave a review in my postalbox...

   Direction la poste et on me demande 12€ en droit de douane pour obtenir ce colis. Sachant que si je ne paie pas cette somme le colis repart. J'ai donc payé deux fois la taxe d'importation. Et bon courage pur se faire rembourser. L'essentiel est que j'ai mon vinyle. Mais franchement, l'expérience sur la marketplace de Discogs est catastrophique. Des vendeurs pas heureux de vendre, aucun suivi ni communication, un service postal français déplorable. Tout les ingrédients réunis pour ne pas renouveler l'expérience. Et donc dès que je peux je comande de nouveau sur Amazon.com pour les USA ! 

   Head of the post office and I am being asked for 12€ in customs duty to get this package. Knowing that if I do not pay this amount, the package leaves again. So I paid the import tax twice. And good luck in getting reimbursed. The essential thing is that I have my vinyl. But frankly, the experience on the Discogs marketplace is catastrophic. Sellers not happy to sell, no follow-up or communication, a deplorable French postal service. All the ingredients gathered to avoid repeating the experience. And so as soon as I can I go back to Amazon.com for the USA! 

   Venons-en au produit dont la description sera simple.Il comporte un sticker indiquant qu'il a été réalisé originellement en 1988 (pour la cas où...):

   La référence du code barre est 4050539906455. Mais il existe une autre référence qui figure dans les crédits, soit 50539906451. Je n'ai jamais compris cette différence puisque cela ne reprend pas intégralement le code barre:

   The barcode reference is 4050539906455. But there is another reference that appears in the credits, namely 50539906451. I never understood this difference since it does not fully reproduce the barcode.

   Et donc je peux enfin écrire que je possède maintenant toutes les rééditions vinyles Europe et USA depuis 2012 !

   And so I can finally write that I now own all the vinyl reprints in Europe and the USA since 2012!

   J'ai acheté ce CD il y a plusieurs mois sur ebay dans un lot avec d'autres CD. Je ne voyais sur l'annonce que la pochette du CD avec le sticker en idéogramme et je ne savais pas de quel pays il provenait. Du coup en le découvrant j'ai constaté qu'il s'agissait du premier tirage Japonais de Piece of mind. 

   I bought this CD several months ago on eBay in a bundle with other CDs. I only saw on the ad the cover of the CD with the ideogram sticker and I didn’t know which country it came from. So upon discovering it, I noticed that this was the first Japanese print of Piece of mind. 

   Sa référence est EMI Toshiba CP 32 5109. Il y a 4 stickers sur le plastique du boitier, dont l'ensemble me fait penser que ce CD vient d'un service de location. Ce n'est pas la première fois que je vois des CD Japonais provenant d'une boutique de location. En France, à part les médiatiques qui prêtent des CD, je ne me souviens pas qu'il était possible de louer des CD. Des videos et DVD, oui, mais des produits musicaux, j'ai un doute. 

   Its reference is EMI Toshiba CP 32 5109. There are 4 stickers on the plastic of the case, which makes me think that this CD comes from a rental service. This is not the first time I have seen Japanese CDs from a rental shop. In France, apart from the media who lend CDs, I don’t remember that it was possible to rent CDs. Videos and DVDs, yes, but musical products, I have a doubt. 

   Le dos de la jaquette indique bien qu'il s'agit du premier tirage de 1987, et non pas de la réédition de 1989, car le prix de vente de 3200 yens était imprimé tout en bas.On le voyait aussi sur l'obi mais, pour moi, elle a malheureusement été perdue. Cette obi était rouge, avec les bords ronds.C'est assez fréquent de ne pas avoir l'obi pour se premier tirage, le plus ancien et donc celui le plus exposé a cette perte. La date de mise en vente du 28 février 1987 était aussi imprimée:

   The back of the jacket clearly indicates that it is the first print of 1987, and not the reissue of 1989, because the selling price of 3200 yen was printed at the bottom. It was also seen on the obi but, for me, it was unfortunately lost. This obi was red, with round edges. It is quite common not to have the obi for their first print, the oldest and therefore the one most exposed to this loss. The sale date of 28 February 1987 was also printed. 

   Le CD est typique de ce premier tirage, avec le triangle noir. Il y a aussi un sticker mais qui porte le numéro 912, ce qui diffère de celui placé sur le boitier qui indiquait 0729. Mais en regardant bien ce sticker a été collé sur un autre qui, lui, porte le numéro 0729. Il n'y a donc pas eu d'échange. A noter que le CD est en très bon état pour un produit loué:

   The CD is typical of this first print, with the black triangle. There is also a sticker but it bears the number 912, which differs from the one placed on the case that indicated 0729. But looking closely, this sticker was pasted on another one that bears the number 0729. There was therefore no exchange. Note that the CD is in very good condition for a rented product.

   Et enfin l'insert noir et blanc avec les textes en Japonais complète ce beau produit. Au moins, à part l'obi, il est presque complet !

   And finally the black and white insert with the texts in Japanese completes this beautiful product. At least, apart from the obi, it is almost complete!

Titre: Piece of mind / Powerslave

   Je viens de recevoir mes deux derniers albums des rééditions US de 2025 pour Piece of mind et Powerslave, et donc je ne résiste pas a vous les présenter rapidement.

   Pour Piece of mind il s'agit du premier vinyle depuis les rééditions de 2014. Le sticker rond que l'on trouvait sur les digipack a aussi été apposé dessus:

   I just received my last two albums of the 2025 US reissues for Piece of Mind and Powerslave, and so I can’t resist to quickly present them to you.

   For Piece of mind this is the first vinyl since the reissues of 2014. The round sticker that was found on the digipack was also affixed to it.

   Les crédits au dos comporte bien la date de 2025, comme on peut le voir aussi sur les vinyles Européens disponible en boutique comme la Fnac. Comme je l'ai déjà écrit ces rééditions n"ont pas été annoncées ni par le groupe, ni par les vendeurs. C'est un peu par hasard que je m'en suis aperçu en fin d'année:

   The credits on the back clearly show the date of 2025, as can also be seen on European vinyls available in stores like Fnac. As I have already written, these reissues were not announced either by the group or by the sellers. It’s a bit by chance that I noticed it at the end of the year.

   Et pour Powerslave on trouve bien entendu les mêmes éléments sur le vinyle: sticker et crédits modifiés:

   And for Powerslave, we of course find the same elements on the vinyl: sticker and modified credits.

   La seule différence est que Powerslave avait aussi été rééditée en 2024 (déjà !) avec le vinyle Zoetrope. Donc on a deux éditions assez récentes.

   The only difference is that Powerslave had also been reissued in 2024 (already!) with the Zoetrope vinyl. So we have two quite recent editions.

   Je vous propose alors de voir tous les rééditions 2024 et 2025 pour les USA, avec le Zoetrope, le vinyle jaune pour Sit et le double vinyle jaune et bleu pour Lad. On peut juste constater que Seventh son n'a pas fait l'objet d'une réédition récente. Etonnant non ?

   I suggest then to see all the 2024 and 2025 reissues for the USA, with the Zoetrope, the yellow vinyl for Sit and the yellow and blue double vinyl for Lad. We can just note that Seventh son has not been the subject of a recent reissue. Surprising, isn’t it?

   Rappelez-vous que lors du Hellfest 2024 j'ai trouvé un stand tenu par des italiens qui vendaient des produits italiens ! J'ai donc acheté cet exemplaire de Seventh son of a seventh son. Sa référence est EMI Italiana SpA 64 79 0258 1. Il n'y a pas beaucoup de crédits sur la pochette:

   Pour le reste seuls les labels sont également intéressants, avec un tampon encré rouge sur la face B pour les taxes: 

   For the rest, only the labels are also interesting, with a red inked stamp on side B for taxes.

   Il est toujours intéressant de pouvoir acheter des produits directement à un acheteur plutôt que de passer par un site comme ebay, avec les frais de port et parfois des taxes. Et en plus on peut juger immédiatement de l'état.

   It is always interesting to be able to buy products directly from a buyer rather than going through a site like eBay, with shipping costs and sometimes taxes. And in addition, we can judge the state immediately.

   Avant de voir avec vous des produits achetés au Hellfest je vous propose des nouveautés, notamment le double vinyle jaune et bleu de Live after death. Mais il n'arrive pas seul car j'ai enfin trouvé le dernier retirage de 2024 pour ce même titre.

   Before seeing with you some products bought at the Hellfest, I propose new ones, notably the yellow and blue double vinyl of Live after death. But it does not arrive alone because I have finally found the last reprint of 2024 for this same title.

  Commençons par ce dernier. Comme je l'ai déjà indiqué Parlophone a réédité l'ensemble des 8 premiers albums en 2024. Cela s'est fait sans annonce ni publicité particulière. Juste des vinyles en rayon avec la date de 2024 au verso comme ici:

   Let’s start with the latter. As I have already indicated, Parlophone reissued all of the first 8 albums in 2024. This was done without any particular announcement or advertising. Just vinyls on the shelf with the date of 2024 on the back as shown here.

   Et la plupart avaient aussi ce petit autocollant collé au dos de la pochette:

   And most also had this little sticker stuck to the back of the cover.

   Mine de rien cet autocollant annonce un changement important pour Parlophone. En effet Warner, la maison mère, a changé de nom d'entreprise en passant de Warner Music Group à Warner Music Group Germany. Et donc même si cela n'a pas été imprimé sur les crédits, cela est indiqué par ce sticker. 

   In fact this sticker announces an important change for Parlophone. Indeed, Warner, the parent company, changed its company name from Warner Music Group to Warner Music Group Germany. And so even if it was not printed on the credits, it is indicated by this sticker. 

   Et pour la réédition 2025 de Live after death ? Ce tirage anniversaire fête donc les 40 ans de l'album live mythique. Pour cela un sticker rond indique les particularités de cette édition: nouveau livre intérieur, nouvel insert et double vinyle jaune et bleu:
