It’s going to be time to write again articles in this new year 2025 that I wish you very metallic !

J'ai profité de quelques jours de vacances pour trier les produits qu'il me reste a vous montrer, soit 30 CD et 30 vinyles que j'ai acheté parfois il y a un an et que je n'ai pas encore pu placer sur ce blog. Cela me fait un article par semaine pour toute cette année, sans compter ce que je risque d'acheter encore. Soyez donc attentif pour mon premier article 2025 qui  sera consacré à un CD Argentin.

I took advantage of a few days of vacation to sort the products that I have left to show you, 30 CDs and 30 vinyls that I bought sometimes a year ago and that I have not yet been able to place on this blog. That makes me one item a week for this whole year, not counting what I may buy again. Be attentive for my first article 2025 which will be dedicated to an Argentina CD.

Comme beaucoup d'entre vous j'ai acheté les rééditions 2024 de Powerslave. Lorsque je dis "les rééditions" ce sont au moins les 2 éditions Europe et USA. Mais j'en ai trouvé une troisième !

Like many of you, I bought the 2024 reissues from Powerslave. When I say "reissues" it means at least 2 editions Europe and USA. But I found a third !

Examinons les deux éditions "classiques", en précisant que je n'ai pas ouvert les produits comme je le fais depuis de nombreuses années pour des vinyles neufs. Je fais cela car je n'estime pas nécessaire d'examiner le contenu et le disque. D'une part il y a de nombreuses photos publiées sur internet et les mienne ne vont pas y ajouter grand-chose et deuxièmement l'aspect historique est minime par rapport à un produit des années 80 que je dois comparer avec d'autres pour en déterminer l'origine ou les différences. 

Let’s look at the two "classic" editions, noting that I have not opened products as I have for many years for new vinyls. I do this because I don’t think it’s necessary to review the content and the disk. On the one hand there are many photos published on the internet and mine will not add much to it and secondly the historical aspect is minimal compared to a product of the 80s that I have to compare with others to determine its origin or differences. 

Pour l'Europe c'est Warner Parlophone qui s'est logiquement occupé de la conception et distribution de ce tirage. Sa référence est celle du code barre: 5021732404916. Et surtout le grand sticker qui a été apposé sur le recto pour bien identifier cette réédition dite 'Zoetrope":

For Europe, it is Warner Parlophone who has logically taken care of the design and distribution of this edit. Its reference is the bar code: 5021732404916. And especially the large sticker that has been affixed on the front to identify this re-edition called 'Zoetrope".

Et pour les États-Unis ce travail a été confié à BMG Sanctuary. Si vous avez acheté ce produit vous avez probablement vu que la référence indiquée est surprenante: IMPOWER1. Cela ressemble à un hommage à la référence Anglaise de 1984. Il y a également un code barre qui est: 4099964078947. Le grand sticker est différent dans le texte et a entrainé des remarques sur les réseaux sociaux:

And for the US, this work was entrusted to BMG Sanctuary. If you have bought this product you probably saw that the reference indicated is surprising: IMPOWER1. This looks like a tribute to the 1984 English reference. There is also a bar code which is: 4099964078947. The large sticker is different in text and has led to comments on social networks.

En effet j'ai lu à plusieurs reprises que ce sticker (et donc le groupe) mentait en indiquant que ce produit était vendu pour la première fois en vinyle ! Je ne suis pas un spécialiste du son, d'ailleurs je n'en parle jamais dans mes articles, car cela est subjectif et que le son que j'aime ne sera jamais le votre. Donc le groupe a choisi le remaster 2015 pour graver cette réédition 2024. A ma connaissance la dernière réédition en vinyle de Powerslave date de 2014, après celle en picture disc de 2013. Il ne s'agissait pas alors du remaster sonore de 2015, lequel a été utilisé en 2017 pour les rééditions en vinyle des albums post 1990. Donc pour moi le groupe ne ment pas, ou du moins BMG ne ment pas en écrivant cela. Maintenant cet argument n'a pas été repris sur le sticker Europe, car je ne pense pas que cela soit un levier de vente important pour les fans.

Indeed I read several times that this sticker (and therefore the group) lied by indicating that this product was sold for the first time in vinyl! I’m not a sound specialist, and I never mention it in my articles because it’s subjective and the sound I like will never be yours. So the group chose the 2015 remaster to burn this 2024 re-edition. To my knowledge the last vinyl re-release of Powerslave dates from 2014, after the picture disc from 2013. It was not the 2015 sound remaster, which was used in 2017 for vinyl re-releases of albums post 1990. So for me the band is not lying, or at least BMG does not lie writing this. Now this argument was not taken up on the sticker Europe, because I do not think it is an important selling lever for fans.

Mais amis Européens vous pouvez aussi être surpris par le fait d'apprendre que ce produit Américain a été fabriqué en République Tchèque ! Outre le fait de s'interroger sur la capacité ou non pour les Américains de graver des vinyles dans leur propre pays, je suis très content d'avoir payé une taxe d'importation en faisant venir ce produit des USA vers l'Europe alors qu'en fait, initialement, il a été fabriqué en Europe ! Mais il faut remplir les caisses des états, donc...

But friends of Europe you may also be surprised to learn that this American product was made in the Czech Republic! Besides questioning the ability or not for Americans to burn vinyl in their own country, I am very happy to have paid an import tax by bringing this product from the USA to Europe when in fact, Originally it was made in Europe! Pour être complet je vous indique avoir classé un tirage Italien pour cette réédition. Cela n'engage que moi que je comprends que vous ne considériez pas cela comme un tirage différent. Je m'explique. Lorsque j'ai acheté mon tirage Europe via Amazon, et en parallèle un autre exemplaire dans un magasin, j'ai constaté en recevant mon exemplaire via Amazon qu'il possédait le sticker SIAE au verso. Ce sticker est relatif aux droits de douane en Italie, et le caractérise comme tel. On a ce type de sticker depuis les années 90 en Italie:

To be complete I indicate you have classified an Italian draw for this reissue. It’s only my understanding that you don’t see this as a different draw. I’ll explain. When I bought my Europe print via Amazon, and in parallel another copy in a store, I found by receiving my copy via Amazon that it had the SIAE sticker on the back. This sticker is related to customs duties in Italy, and characterizes it as such. We have had this type of sticker since the 90s in Italy.

Quoi qu'il en soit ces rééditions sont intéressantes pour les collectionneurs, probablement plus que pour les mélomanes. Mais on peut s'interroger pourquoi The number of the beast et Powerslave ont eu les honneurs d'être réédités, et pas Piece of mind par exemple ?

Anyway these reissues are interesting for collectors, probably more than for music lovers. But we can ask why The number of the beast and Powerslave had the honor to be reissued, and not Piece of mind for example ?

Les dernières nouvelles de mon blog sont bonnes. La page Iron Maiden argus est finalisée et vous pouvez y retrouver toutes les références et les cotes à jour. Concernant les pages des titres, j'ai constaté quelques manques dans les dernières pages modifiées et que j'ai corrigé. Mais il se peut que des scan de produits soient manquants. S'il y en a encore je le verrais lors du rajout d'un produit en comparant avec mon fichier de référence. J'ai modifié environ une dizaine de page selon la nouvelle présentation avec les logos des produits et les drapeaux des pays. J'espère que cela vous plait. The latest news from my blog is good. The Iron Maiden argus page is finalized and you can find all references and updated ratings. Regarding the title pages, I noticed some gaps in the last modified pages and that I corrected. But it may be that some product scans are missing. If there is still I would see it when adding a product by comparing with my reference file. Venons-en au produit du jour, à savoir ce maxi 45 tours français de Running free live provenant toujours de la discothèque de Radio Monte-Carlo.

Let’s come to the product of the day, namely this 12' French Running free live from the disco of Radio Monte-Carlo.

Sa référence RMC est V.245626 visible car inscrite au marqueur du la pochette. Le tampon date est aussi présent et indique le 24 octobre 1985, soit environ un mois après la date de sortie officielle du single:

C'est un tirage promo EMI Pathe Marconi donc bien entendu le tampon embouti promo a été apposé sur un bord. Ici en l’occurrence sur le bord supérieur droit:

Il y a bien un insert dans ce produit mais, ce ne sera pas une nouveauté, il est vierge. Aucune écoute. Après réflexion je me dis que cette discothèque devait comporter un nombre très important de vinyles jamais écouté ! S'agissant d'une radio généraliste je peux comprendre qu'Iron Maiden n'ait pas été diffusé souvent, voir jamais au regard des fiches de suivi...

There is an insert in this product but it will not be a novelty, it is blank. No listening. After reflection I say that this disco had to have a very important number of vinyl records never heard! As a general-purpose radio station I can understand that Iron Maiden was not broadcast often, see never in the following pages...

Les labels sont bien recouverts de la référence RMC sur les deux faces. Pour rappel c'est en 1985 que Pathe Marconi est devenu Pathe Marconi SA. Je l'ai indiqué dans ma page sur la datation des tirages mais c'est un repère très important. Hier, en visitant un disquaire de ma région qui vendait un LP éponyme d'Iron Maiden je lui ai appris que ce qu'il indiquait comme premier tirage (A tort car avec un label jaune c'est forcément un second tirage) datait en fait de 1985 à cause de la mention PM SA.

The labels are well covered with the RMC reference on both sides. As a reminder, it was in 1985 that Pathe Marconi became Pathe Marconi SA. I indicated it in my page on the dating of prints but it is a very important reference. Yesterday, visiting a record store in my area that sold an eponymous LP of Iron Maiden I learned that what it indicated as first print (wrong because with a yellow label it is necessarily a second print) was actually from 1985 because of the mention PM SA.

Quelques informations sur les mises à jour de mon blog.

Vous avez déjà constaté un changement visuel sur l'apparence. Je ne sais pas sil elle sera définitive. Je teste plusieurs apparences et retiendrais celle qui me convient et qui me semblera adaptée et confortable aussi pour vous. D'ailleurs pensez a modifier le niveau de zoom de votre navigateur à au moins 120%.

Comme je vous ai déjà dit je dois modifier 95% de mes pages car elles sont trop longues en termes de caractères. Interrogé le support de mon hébergeur me dit que je dois simplement faire des copier-coller et créer plus de sections dans mes pages. C'est tellement simple de copier-coller énormément de texte et photos sur 150 pages ! Merci du conseil ! Comme je n'ai pas le choix je vais le faire mais cela me prendre plusieurs semaines, voir deux mois pour tout remettre en ordre...

J'ai déjà commencer à le faire sur les 7 premières pages. Et j'en profite pour apporter des améliorations visuelles comme l'ajout de logo pour distinguer les supports (cassettes, vinyles, cd) et des drapeaux pour les pays. Je pense que cela peut vous aider dans la navigation des pages pour les albums et singles. Vous pouvez déjà voir ce que cela donne avec la page 008 de "Running Free".

Et enfin j'ai commencé a remettre en page mon argus. J'en suis à l'année 1990. Patience donc...

Mais je suis plus optimiste que lorsque j'ai découvert l'apparence de mon blog suite à la migration.

Some information about updates of my blog.

You have already seen a visual change in appearance. I don’t know if it will be permanent. I test several appearances and would retain the one that suits me and seems to me suitable and comfortable also for you. Also consider changing the zoom level of your browser to at least 120%.

As I already told you, I have to modify 95% of my pages because they are too long in terms of characters. Asked my host’s support tells me that I just need to copy and paste and create more sections in my pages. It’s so easy to copy and paste a lot of text and photos on 150 pages! Thank you for the advice! As I have no choice I will do it but it will take me several weeks, see two months to put everything in order...

I already started to do it on the first 7 pages. And I take the opportunity to make visual improvements such as adding logo to distinguish media (tapes, vinyl, cd) and flags for countries. I think it can help you in the page navigation for albums and singles. You can already see what this looks like with the "Running Free" page 008.

And finally I started to put my argus back on page. I’m in the year 1990. Patience so...

But I’m more optimistic than when I discovered the look of my blog after migration.

Après une journée d'analyse je commence à comprendre l'étendu du problème suite à la migration interne liée au passage en HTTPS du blog.

Mon hébergeur, même s'il m'a prévenu de cette migration, n'a pas conservé la même apparence qu'antérieurement, a perdu au moins deux pages, un article et surtout m'impose actuellement une limite de 76500 caractères par article ! A titre informatif rien que ma page argus comporte 875000 caractères !

Pour ce qui est de l'article perdu (Piece of Mind Radio Monte-Carlo), il a été réintégré.

Pour ce qui est des deux pages, 001 accueil et 002 argus, je dois les recopier entièrement car je n'arrive pas a retirer un attribut qui les empêche de figurer dans la liste des pages sur la droite. La 001 a déjà été refaite et postée. Pour la 002 Argus ce sera plus long car, comme indiqué ci-dessus, je dois la découper en 11 ou 12 fois 76500 caractères pour pouvoir la sauvegarder. Actuellement il m'est impossible, à cause de cette limitation, de modifier 95% des pages de mon blog ! Elles font quasi toutes plus que 76500 caractères et le site m'interdit de les sauvegarder même si je ne change qu'une virgule...

Je me retrouve donc face à un énorme travail de réécriture pour respecter cette limitation de caractère. Je trouve cela un peu irrespectueux de la part de mon hébergeur mais je n'ai pas le choix. Sauf a changer d'hébergeur...

D'autant plus que l'apparence qui m'est proposée ne me permet pas de modification de fond du thème (disposition des différents pavés, photos de fonds, etc).

Quoi qu'il en soit je vous tiendrais régulièrement informé de l'avancée des modifications.

After a day of analysis I begin to understand the extent of the problem following the internal migration related to the passage to HTTPS of the blog.

   Je vous ai déjà dit que Piece of mind est mon album préféré ? Je l'ai écrit 10 fois je pense. Cela fera onze. Une face A énormissime, deux 45 tours magnifiques dont un joué encore à tous les concerts, et To tame a land, cet hommage au roman de Herbert qui me fait toujours frisonner 40 ans après !

   I told you that Piece of mind is my favorite album? I wrote it 10 times I think. That’s eleven. One big side A, two magnificent 7' of which one still played at all concerts, and To tame a land, this tribute to the novel by Herbert that always makes me thrill 40 years later !

   Du coup j'ai été incroyablement heureux de découvrir dans le lot RMC ce tirage Français de Piece of mind. C'est encore une édition promotionnelle mais j'en possédais déjà une avec ce fameux tampon embouti. Pas que je suis blasé mais je savoure encore plus ce 33 tours provenant de cette radio.

   So I was incredibly happy to discover in the RMC lot this French edit of Piece of mind. It is still a promotional edition but I already had one with this famous stamped stamp. Not that I’m tired but I enjoy even more this LP from this radio.

   Si je vous dis que l'insert RMC ne comporte pas de date d'écoute cela ne sera pas une grande surprise tellement nous l'avons constaté sur 90% des produits du lot. Et du coup pour mon plus grand bonheur ce produit est dans un état neuf ! Un 33 tours de 1983, promotionnel, d'une radio, et quasi neuf. Que demander de plus !

   If I tell you that the insert RMC does not have a date of listening it will not be a big surprise as we found on 90% of the products of the lot. And so to my greatest happiness this product is in a new condition! A 983' LP, promotional, radio, and almost new. What more could you ask for !

   Maiden Japan est le titre suivant pour ce premier lot de la discothèque de Radio Monte-Carlo. Et avec ce produit on va avoir une petite surprise. En effet il ne comporte pas toutes les caractéristiques déjà vues sur les autres. Examinons cela.

   Maiden Japan is the next title for this first batch of the disco of Radio Monte-Carlo. And with this product we will have a little surprise. Indeed, it does not include all the characteristics already seen on the others. Let us examine this.

   Ce maxi 45 tours comporte une pochette qui ne comprend ni référence RMC inscrite dessus au feutre, ni tampon avec date. C'est assez surprenant. De plus cette pochette n'est pas en excellent état. Il y a deux morceaux de scotch sans vraiment de raison car il n'y a pas de déchirure et il trait de stylo entour la mention "45 tours - 4 titres". Par rapport à ce que l'on a vu avant cela manque de soin dans la conservation de cette pochette.

   This 12 inch has a cover that does not include RMC reference written on it with felt, nor date stamp. It is quite surprising. Moreover, this cover is not in excellent condition. There are two pieces of scotch without really reason because there is no tear and it draws pen around the mention "45 tours - 4 titres". Compared to what we have seen before this lack of care in the conservation of this cover.

   Mais pour remonter le niveau de qualité de cette pochette il y a heureusement le tampon promotionnel encré à l'intérieur. Comme il s'agit du premier tirage Français de Maiden Japan la pochette s'ouvre sur le haut, et c'est là que le tampon promo a été apposé. Et comme elle est partiellement décollée c'est plus facile pour faire la photo:

   But to raise the level of quality of this pouch there is fortunately the inked promotional stamp inside. As this is the first French print of Maiden Japan the cover opens on top, and that’s where the promo stamp was affixed. And as it is partially detached it is easier to take the photo.

   Et quand est-il de l'insert RMC ? Il est bien présent mais là aussi il est différent. En effet il ne comporte pas non plus de référence RMC et a été renseigné manuellement. Par cotre ce qui ne change pas c'est l'absence d'écoute de ce disque sur les ondes !

   And about the RMC insert ? It is present but also different. It does not include an RMC reference and has been entered manually. What does not change is the absence of listening to this record on the air !

   Heureusement les labels sont conformes au standard RMC avec la référence V.206537 inscrite sur les deux. Je commençais à m'inquiéter avec toutes ces anomalies mais c'est bien un produit provenant de la discothèque de RMC. Et pourtant comment expliquer justement ces anomalies ?

    Fortunately the labels are compliant with the RMC standard with the reference V.206537 written on both. I was beginning to worry about all these anomalies but it is a product from the RMC disco. And yet how to explain precisely these anomalies ?

   A priori tout indique que ce disque a été enregistré dans l'inventaire en dehors des standards de la discothèque RMC: absence de référence sur la pochette, insert écrit manuellement et sans référence dessus et absence de tampon daté. Cela a pu arriver pour diverses raisons: trop de travail, travail réalisé par un stagiaire ne connaissant pas les process, oubli. Cela n'enlève rien à son aspect historique.

   A priori everything indicates that this disc was registered in the inventory outside of the standards of the discothèque RMC: Nof reference on the cover, insert written manually and without reference on it and No dated stamp. This could have happened for various reasons: too much work, work done by an intern who does not know the processes, forgetting. This does not detract from its historical aspect.

   Mais en fait ce n'est rien de tout cela ! Je connais la raison réelle et je vous en dirai plus d'ici quelques semaines, lorsque nous analyserons ensemble le second lot...

   But in fact it is none of this! I know the real reason and will tell you more in a few weeks, when we analyze together the second lot...

   J'arrive au dernier 45 tours de la série RMC car, vous l'avez vu dans mon article précédent et mes photos, il n'y a pas de 45 tours dans le second lot RMC acheté. Ce tirage Français de Can I play with madness est intéressant car il montre un changement dans le classement par RMC des disques.

   I arrive at the last 7 inch of the RMC series because, you saw it in my previous article and my photos, there are no7 inch in the second lot RMC purchased. This French edit of Can I play with madness is interesting because it shows a change in the RMC’s ranking of records.

   La référence est 00028807, avec un code barre collé sur le devant de la pochette. C'est donc un changement dans la gestion des disques, probablement pour permettre une meilleur gestion des mouvements entre le stock et les studios:

   The reference is 00028807, with a barcode glued on the front of the cover. It is therefore a change in the management of records, probably to allow better management of movements between the stock and the studios.

   Il y a encore trois choses intéressantes sur cette pochette. Tout d'abord un sticker RMC. De forme ronde il est très visible:

   There are three more interesting things on this cover. First of all a RMC sticker. Round shape it is very visible.

   Puis le tampon date RMC, qui indique la date du 25 mars 1988. Ce n'est que 5 jours après la date de sortie officielle du single.

   Then the RMC date stamp, which indicates the date of March 25, 1988. It is only 5 days after the official release date of the single.

   Et enfin le tampon promo, qui est rond et situé en haut à gauche de la pochette:

   And finally the promo stamp, which is round and located at the top left of the cover.

   Deux commentaires sur ce tampon. Il est à l'envers, c'est à dire que l'embouti a été fait depuis le verso, et je possède une variante de Can I play with madness promo Français avec le tampon hexagonal. Le voici:

   Two comments on this stamp. It is upside down, that is to say the stamping was done from the back cover, and I have a variant of Can I play with madness French promo with hexagonal stamp.

   Tout comme la photo des deux disques de Scorpions dans l'article précédent, voici deux 45 tours datant de 1988, avec les deux types de tampon promo Français. Mais là où pour Scorpions les titres étaient différents, là c'est le même single. Pourtant, à ma connaissance, il n'y a eu qu'un tirage de ce 45 tours, donc pas d'écart important entre deux disques. Mon hypothèse est que le 45 tours pour RMC est celui de mars 1988, avec le tampon rond, et que celui que je possède déjà a été prélevé dans un stock quelques mois plus tard, disons vers fin 1988, et que cette fois-ci le tampon hexagonal y a été apposé. Pour ceux qui n'ont pas lu mon article sur le sujet je rappelle que c'est en 1988 que Pathe Marconi a modifié son tampon de rond vers hexagonal.

   Just like the photo of the two Scorpions records in the previous article, here are two 7 inch dating from 1988, with both types of French promo stamp. But where for Scorpions the titles were different, here it is the same single. However, to my knowledge, there was only one draw of this 7 inch, so no significant gap between two discs. My hypothesis is that the 7 inch for RMC is the one from March 1988, with the round stamp, and that the one I already have was taken from a stock a few months later, say towards the end of 1988, and this time the hexagonal stamp was affixed. For those who have not read my article on the subject I recall that it was in 1988 that Pathe Marconi changed his stamp from round to hexagonal.

   Les labels sont argentés, mais contrairement aux autres produits la référence n'a pas été inscrite dessus manuellement:

   The labels are silver, but unlike other products the reference has not been written on it manually.

   Et enfin l'insert est encore présent, alors que le code barre aurait pu laisser penser à une disparition de cette aide manuelle. Il n'en est rien et, sans grande surprise, ce single n'est pas passée sur les ondes de RMC:

And finally the insert is still present, while the barcode could have suggested a disappearance of this manual aid. It is nothing like that and, not surprisingly, this single did not go on the RMC airwaves.

Avant de débuter la description une autre information car j'ai réussi a acheter d'autres lots de la discothèque RMC qui étaient en vente cette semaine. Je vous propose des photos en fin de semaine prochaine, une fois que j'ai récupéré les vinyles.

   Penultimate 7 inch of this RMC series, with a French edit of Run to the hills live that still has differences from the others. Before starting the description another information because I managed to buy other lots of the disco RMC that were on sale this week. I propose to take pictures next weekend, once I have recovered the vinyl.

   La pochette comporte le tampon promotionnel du milieu des années 80 et une référence RMC étrange: V1 FM. Comme pour the trooper cette référence ne suit pas la logique des autres. Et j'ignore toujours pourquoi. Je reste persuadé que FM sont les initiales de la personne qui a enregistré ce disque dans la collection de la radio:

   The cover has the mid-80s promotional stamp and a strange RMC reference: V1 FM. As for the trooper, this reference does not follow the logic of others. And I still don’t know why. I remain convinced that FM are the initials of the person who recorded this record in the radio collection.

   L'insert a été rédigé à la main, contrairement à tous les autres vus depuis le début des articles sur le sujet. Il ne comporte plus que V1. Le FM a disparu. Aucune date d'écoute n'a été inscrite sur cet insert:

   The insert was handwritten, unlike all others seen since the beginning of the articles on the subject. It is now only V1. The FM has disappeared. No listening date was written on this insert.

   Sur les labels argentés la référence redevient V1 FM:

   On the silver labels, the reference becomes V1 FM.

   L'ensemble des marquages sur ce 45 tours promo Français de Run to the hills live me laisse à penser qu'il a été enregistré par la radio comme un produit négligeable, sans intérêt, qui ne sera de toute façon jamais écouté ! En effet la référence V1 n'a pas de sens ou alors elle est incomplète. Comment retrouver ce 45 tours parmi des milliers d'autres avec un tel classement ? Encore un mystère que je ne suis pas certain de pouvoir éclaircir un jour.

   The set of markings on this 7 inch promo French Run to the hills live makes me think that it was recorded by radio as a negligible product, without interest, which will never be heard anyway! Indeed the reference V1 has no meaning or then it is incomplete. How to find this 7 inch among thousands of others with such a ranking? Another mystery that I am not sure I can ever solve.

   Mais avec la nouvelle grande quantité de vinyles RMC que je vais récupéré très bientôt, et avec les références indiquées dessus, je vais peut-être confirmé ou infirmé mes constatations.

   But with the new large quantity of RMC vinyl that I will recover very soon, and with the references indicated on it, I may be confirming or invalidated my findings.
