   Cette fois je ne vous demande pas votre avis sur la garantie que ce produit est officiel. Il l'est. Il s'agit du tirage promo Japonais de Rainmaker. Vendu en 2004 par EMI Toshiba, il complète parfaitement ma collection sur ce titre. Je possède déjà le tirage non promo et j'ai probablement déjà écrit un article dessus pour le décrire, mais je ne sais plus quand. On reprend donc...

   Sa référence est EMI Toshiba TOCP 61082. Le produit se compose d'un CD avec un poster. Il a été mis en vente au Japon en janvier 2004, alors que dans beaucoup de pays il a été vendu en novembre 2023. Nous connaissons cette information grâce aux dates indiquées sur le produit.

   Its reference is EMI Toshiba TOCP 61082. The product consists of a CD with a poster. It was put up for sale in Japan in January 2004, while in many countries it was sold in November 2023. We know this information from the dates on the product.

   Ces dates figurent aux deux endroits: au dos du boiter et sur l'obi. La date du 28 janvier 2004 est imprimée a deux reprises. Cela signifie que la date de sortie et de mise en vente est la même. Ou qu'il n'y a pas eu de réédition. Sur les albums vous pourrez voir la date initiale de sortie, et la date de réédition. Seconde information sur ce dos de boitier, le sticker promo Japonais. Je vous ai déjà alerté sur des faux CD promo Japonais vendus sur ebay, surtout en provenance d'Israel ou d'Italie. Dans les pages dédiées je vous explique comment les identifier. Là il n'y a aucun souci, le papier est bien blanc et les bords nets.

   These dates appear in two places: on the back of the box and on the obi. The date of January 28, 2004 is printed twice. This means that the release and sale date is the same. Or that there was no reissue. On the albums you can see the initial release date, and the reissue date. Second information on this case back, the Japanese promo sticker. I’ve already alerted you to fake Japanese promo CDs sold on ebay, especially from Israel or Italy. In the dedicated pages I explain how to identify them. There is no problem, the paper is white and the edges clean.

   L'obi est très colorée, avec un beau contraste entre le bleu, le noir et le rouge. La date de fin d'offre à prix réduit est fixée au 27 juillet 2004. Comme je vous l'ai déjà expliqué les CD japonais sont vendus moins chers pendant un certain temps (6 mois en général) et cela est indiqué sur l'obi. On peut comparer cela a des prix réduits à la Fnac, mais sur un délai plus court.

  The obi is very colorful, with a beautiful contrast between blue, black and red. The end date of the offer at a reduced price is fixed on July 27, 2004. As I already explained, Japanese CDs are sold cheaper for a certain time (6 months in general) and this is indicated on the obi. We can compare this to reduced prices at the Fnac, but on a shorter time.

   Et enfin le CD. Il comporte la mention de promotion en son centre, tout autour du rond central. Là aussi c'est un bon moyen de détecter des faux en observant la qualité de l'impression et l'alignement des lettres. Comme toujours la matrix au dos reprend la référence.

   De retour du Hellfest 2023 je poste quelques photos du concert du 17 juin. Je ne vais pas détailler le déroulement du show, que j'ai trouvé très bien. Je vais juste vous donner quelques impressions personnelles et celles recueillies auprès d'amis qui ne sont pas des fans du groupe.

   Back from Hellfest 2023 I post some pictures of the concert on June 17. I will not detail the progress of the show, which I found very well. I will just give you some personal impressions and those gathered from friends who are not fans of the band.

   Connaissant la set list je savais que ce show serait composé de 40% de titres de Somewhere in time, de 40% de Senjutsu et de 20% de titres phares. J'ai donc retrouvé avec plaisir plus chansons de 1986. J'ai enfin compris le rapport entre Somewhere in time et cette tournée: un prétexte à voyager dans le temps, qui est le thème de cet album. C'est donc un parti pris risqué. On en reparlera.

   Knowing the set list I knew that this show would be composed of 40% Somewhere in time titles, 40% Senjutsu and 20% flagship titles. So I found with pleasure more songs of 1986. I finally understood the connection between Somewhere in time and this tour: a pretext to travel in time, which is the theme of this album. So it’s a risky bias. We’ll talk about it again.

   Le décorum est assez simple, avec la même organisation de scène avec la structure en U inversé. Nico est toujours au centre, limite caché. Les différents tableaux dessinés représentant les titres défilent. Sobre et simple. Et à part deux effigies géantes et une tête gonflable d'Eddie, il n'y a aucune surprise. Au final les décors sont moins recherchés que lors de la tournée précédente.

   The decorum is quite simple, with the same stage organization with the inverted U structure. Nico is always in the center, hidden limit. The various drawn tables representing the titles scroll. Simple and simple. And aside from two giant effigies and an inflatable head of Eddie, there are no surprises. In the end the sets are less sought after than during the previous tour.

   Bruce est beaucoup moins mobile aussi. Steve, Dave et Adrian assurent, tandis que Janick est (enfin) sobre. Il ne fait presque pas tournoyer sa guitare !

   Bruce is a lot less mobile too. Steve, Dave and Adrian are good, while Janick is (finally) sober. He barely spins his guitar!

   Mon avis personnel est que ce show était très sympa sur le fait d'écouter des titres de 1986 et ceux du dernier album. Death of the celts passe mieux en concert que je le redoutais. J'ai trouvé Nico très fatigué à la fin du show. Au final je trouve que cette tournée se fait à l'économie en terme de décor et que le groupe assure sans en faire trop.

   My personal opinion is that this show was very nice about listening to songs from 1986 and those of the last album. Death of the celts is better in concert than I feared. I found Nico very tired at the end of the show. In the end I find that this tour is done to the economy in terms of decor and that the band does without doing too much.

   Et maintenant les avis de mes amis présents, qui je le répète ne sont pas des fans: trop de titres trop long, déçu par les décors moins recherchés qu'en 2018 (le spitfire !!), beaucoup d'erreurs de Nico à la batterie, pas assez de hits, un grand groupe mais au final peu de surprise et pas assez de titres connus. Je n'ai pu que répondre que, effectivement, ce show n'est pas fait pour un festival !

   And now the reviews of my friends present, who I repeat are not fans: too many tracks too long, disappointed by the less sought after scenery than in 2018 (the spitfire!), many mistakes from Nico to the drums, not enough hits, a big band but in the end little surprise and not enough known tracks. I could only reply that, indeed, this show is not made for a festival!

Celui-ci est pour Out of the silent planet et je l'ai acheté à un vendeur qui vendait également des promos officiels et surtout je ne l'ai pas revu 10 fois sur son compte.    Pas d'article sur un produit mais un petit billet sur le début de la nouvelle tournée du groupe qui passera, pour la France, par Clisson le 17 juin. Le premier concert à eu lieu hier et la set list a été dévoilée. Cette tournée est donc quasi entièrement consacrée aux albums Senjutsu et Somewhere in time.

   Le groupe ne pouvait pas reprendre les mêmes titres que lors de la tournée précédente, et c'est toujours un partie pris que de composer une set list orientée sur un thème, en l’occurrence le passé. On avait compris que l'album Somewhere in time serait à l'honneur, ce qui est assez étonnant l'année des 40 ans de Piece of mind. Mais pourquoi pas. C'est un album qui a été décrié lors de sa sortie pour ses parties de claviers mais qui a depuis retrouvé ses fans grâce à d'excellents titres.

Venons donc à cette set list qui figure sur le site du groupe, les nombreuses videos sur you tube et donc des visuels ont été diffusés sur Facebook en fin de journée hier: Il y aura donc 5 titres de Somewhere in time dont, pour la première fois en live Alexander the great. A noter que le show débute par Caught somewhere in time, single très sympa mais peu connu des non fan. Je pense notamment aux show qui seront donnés lors des festivals.

   Viennent ensuite 1 titre d'Iron Maiden, 1 titre de The number of the beast, 1 titre de Piece of mind, 1 titre de Seventh son of a seventh son et 1 titre de Fear of the dark. On peut noter, et je m'en plains personnellement, l'absence de Powerslave dans ce retour vers le passé.

   Tous les autres titres, soit 5, seront issus de Senjutsu. Et là je note ce qui est pour moi le plus gros écueil de ce show: Que vient faire Death of the Celts dans cette set list ?

   Ce titre est très long et c'est pour moi le plus faible de Senjutsu. Pourquoi ne pas l'avoir remplacé par deux titres courts et directs, tels Aces high ou même un titre de Killers puisque lui aussi est oublié. Nous aurions eu un réel mixte entre passé et présent. Un hommage aux premiers albums et une découverte live pour quelques titres de Senjustu, comme Hell on earth.

   A part le point faible de Death of the Celts, je suis impatient de découvrir les titres live, certains jamais joués et d'autres joués seulement durant la tournée initiale de Somewhere in time. D'autant plus que les effets visuels ont l'air sympas, ainsi que les personnages animés sur scène. Rendez-vous le 17 juin à Clisson pour vivre cela !

   No article about a product but a small post about the start of the new tour of the band which will be, for France, by Clisson on June 17. The first concert took place yesterday and the set list was unveiled. This tour is almost entirely devoted to the albums Senjutsu and Somewhere in time.

   The band could not repeat the same tracks as during the previous tour, and it is always a part taken to compose a set list oriented on a theme, in this case the past. We understood that the album Somewhere in time would be in the spotlight, which is quite surprising the year of the 40 years of Piece of mind. But why not. It is an album that was decried during its release for its parts of keyboards but that has since found its fans thanks to excellent tracks.

   So let’s come to this set list that appears on the site of the band, the many videos on you tube and therefore visuals were broadcast on Facebook at the end of the day yesterday: There will be 5 tracks of Somewhere in time including, for the first time live Alexander the great. Note that the show starts with Caught somewhere in time, a very nice single but little known by non fans. I am thinking in particular of the shows that will be given at the festivals.   

   Next comes 1 Iron Maiden title, 1 The number of the beast title, 1 Piece of mind title, 1 Seventh son of a seventh son and 1 Fear of the dark title. We can note, and I personally complain, the absence of Powerslave in this return to the past.

   All other titles, 5, will come from Senjutsu. And here I note what is for me the biggest pitfall of this show: What comes to do Death of the Celts in this set list ?

   This title is very long and it is for me the weakest of Senjutsu. Why not replace it with two short and direct titles, such as Aces high or even a Killers title since he too is forgotten. We would have had a real mix between past and present. A tribute to the first albums and a live discovery for some Senjustu titles, like Hell on earth.

   Apart from the weakness of Death of the Celts, I can’t wait to discover the live tracks, some never played and others played only during the initial tour of Somewhere in time. Especially since the visual effects look nice, as well as the animated characters on stage. See you on June 17 in Clisson to experience this!

   J'ai retrouvé deux CD des First ten years qui trainaient en dehors du classement de mes CD et, faute de retrouver un article sur le sujet, j'ai décidé d'en écrire un. Pour tous les tirages des First ten years datent de 1990. C'est normal car effectivement les vinyles ont été vendus à partir du 12 février 1990, de même que les tirages CD. Ces éditions sont faciles à identifier car ils possèdent un voucher dedans, une sorte de bon d'échange pour obtenir gratuitement une boite afin de les ranger. Mais beaucoup ne possèdent plus ce voucher, car soit ils ont été perdus, soit ils ont été échangés justement !

   I found two CDs of the First ten years that were hanging out of the classification of my CDs and, for lack of finding an article on the subject, I decided to write one. For all the First ten years prints date from 1990. This is normal because vinyl was sold from February 12, 1990, as well as CD prints. These editions are easy to identify because they have a voucher in them, a kind of voucher to get a free box to store them. But many no longer have this voucher, because either they were lost or they were exchanged precisely !

   C'est mon cas car environ 50% de mes CD n'ont plus le voucher. Et naturellement, avec ou sans voucher, j'ai toujours considéré que ces CD dataient tous de 1990. C'est une erreur car certains datent de 1995 en fait ! Pourquoi ?

   This is my case because about 50% of my CDs no longer have the voucher. And naturally, with or without voucher, I always considered that these CDs all date from 1990. This is a mistake because some date back to 1995! Why ?

   Dans mes habitudes de collectionneurs j'ai celle de regarder tout: la pochette, le label, ma matrice, le CD, les logos, les inserts, es couleurs et même les stickers. Tous ces éléments contiennent souvent un indice qui permet de dater un tirage et donc de découvrir une partie de l'histoire du groupe. Pour cet article c'est l'IFPI qui va nous aider. Ce code, qui est gravé sur le CD, indiquer le nom de la société qui a fabriqué celui-ci. Il existe deux type de IFPI: un premier gravé sur le plastique, au centre, et un second imbriqué dans le cercle extérieur contenant la matrix. Pour simplifier un identifié l'usine de gravage et l'autre le master utilisé. C'est le premier qui ici nous intéresse.

   In my collecting habits I have the habit of looking at everything: the cover, the label, my matrix, the CD, the logos, the inserts, the colors and even the stickers. All these elements often contain a clue that allows to date a print and thus to discover part of the history of the group. For this section, the IFPI will help us. This code, which is engraved on the CD, indicate the name of the company that manufactured it. There are two types of IFPI: one engraved on the plastic in the centre and a second nested in the outer circle containing the matrix. To simplify one identified the burning plant and the other the master used. This is the first one that interests us here.

   J'ai fait express de mettre les deux CD en contiguë afin de monter que visuellement il n'y a aucune différence. Ni sur le feuillet, ni sur le dos d'ailleurs. Voici ce qui fait la différence. Sur le CD de droite on remarque un IFPI qui est 1404:

   Cet IFPI 1404 correspond à l'usine de EMI Swindon. On trouve cette information sur différents sites répertoriant ces IFPI. Et comme on peut le voir sur la photo la matrix est aussi EMI Swindon. Nous avons notre information mais pas la plus importante: depuis quand y-a-t-il des IFPI sur les CD ? Là aussi plusieurs sites évoquent ce point, notamment Discogs qui indique la période de septembre 1994 comme début de l'implantation des IFPI sur les CD pour lutter contre le piratage. On pouvait ainsi identifier visuellement un vrai CD d'un faux. Ce qui n'est plus vrai aujourd'hui car les Russes arrivent à falsifier ces IFPI. Mais revenons en septembre 1994. Si depuis fin 1994 tous les CD ont été fabriqués avec un IFPI, les tirages des First ten years possédant un IFPI ne peut donc pas dater de 1990. C'est d'une logique implacable et cela démontre l'existence d'un second tirage pour les CD.

   This IFPI 1404 corresponds to the EMI Swindon plant. This information can be found on various sites listing these IFPI. And as you can see in the picture the matrix is also EMI Swindon. We have our information but not the most important: since when are there IFIs on CDs? Here again, several sites mention this point, notably Discogs which indicates the period of September 1994 as the beginning of the implementation of IFPI on CDs to fight piracy. We could visually identify a real CD from a fake one. This is no longer true today because the Russians manage to falsify these IFIs. But let’s go back to September 1994. If since the end of 1994 all CDs have been manufactured with an IFPI, the prints of First ten years with an IFPI cannot therefore date from 1990. It is an implacable logic and it shows the existence of a second edition for CDs.

   Mais avant de comprendre pourquoi, il convient juste de revenir sur l'identification. Bien entendu il y a l'IFPI mais sur la photo de présentation de cet article on peut voir deux points intéressants. Le premier est le sticker rond sur le tirage de Flight of icarus. Ce sticker indiquait la présence du voucher dans le CD. Cela prouve que le boitier contenait un CD du premier tirage de 1990. Je mets contenait car il faut quand même vérifier l'absence de IFPI, à cause des échanges de CD. J'en parle souvent mais ayez toujours cela en tête. A part un tirage neuf et scellé, il y a toujours un risque qu'une partie de votre produit viennent d'un autre tirage. Cela est aussi valable pour les vinyles avec les échanges disque/pochette. De même la présence d'un voucher n'est pas un indice, car là aussi il peut avoir été échangé de boitier. Prenez toujours le temps de tout analyser. Le second point est l'insert EMI présent dans le second  tirage de Flight of icarus. Là aussi il peut venir d'un autre CD. Mais en regardant les titres décrits dessus on peut noter qu'ils datent entre 1991 et 1993 (Dive Dive Dive de Bruce Dickinson en 1991, Dezhumaniser de Black Sabbath en 1992 et Hocus pocus de Focus en 1993). En tout cas cet insert ne pouvait pas se trouver dans un tirage initial de 1990.

   But before we understand why, we just need to go back to identification. Of course there is the IFPI but on the photo of presentation of this article we can see two interesting points. The first is the round sticker on the Flight of icarus print. This sticker indicated the presence of the voucher in the CD. This proves that the case contained a CD of the first edition of 1990. I put in because we still have to check the absence of IFPI, because of the CD exchanges. I often talk about it but always have this in mind. Apart from a new and sealed print, there is always a risk that part of your product will come from another print run. This also applies to vinyls with disc/sleeve exchanges. Also the presence of a voucher is not a clue, because there too it can have been exchanged from case. Always take the time to analyze everything. The second point is the EMI insert present in the second edition of Flight of icarus. There also it can come from another CD. But looking at the titles described above we can notice that they date from 1991 to 1993 (Bruce Dickinson’s Dive Dive in 1991, Dezhumaniser of Black Sabbath in 1992 and Hocus pocus of Focus in 1993). In any case this insert could not have been in an initial print run of 1990.

   Maintenant il reste à comprendre l'intérêt d'un second tirage. Les First ten years ont été édités pour célébrer les 10 première années discographiques du groupe. Cela n'aurait pas eu de sens de les revendre en 1995. Sauf si une opération spéciale survenait alors. Et si cette opération avait été pour EMI la sortie de The X factor ? En effet à cet occasion EMI à mis en vente une série de double CD contenant les albums précédents et les singles sur un CD bonus. Singles identiques à ceux figurant sur les CD des First ten years. Quelle belle occasion pour alors vendre un peu plus de produit que de rééditer les 10 CD des first ten years ? Bien entendu je n'ai pa sce souvenir et je n'ai aucune documentation pour le prouver. C'est juste une hypothèse. Mais la réalité est bien qu'EMI a remis en vente, en 1995 ou plus tard, des CD des First ten years. Pour ma part j'indique 1995 comme date de mise en vente.

   Now it remains to understand the interest of a second draw. The First ten years were published to celebrate the first 10 years of the band. It would have made no sense to resell them in 1995. Unless a special operation occurred. What if this operation was for EMI the release of The X factor ? Indeed on this occasion EMI put on sale a series of double CDs containing previous albums and singles on a bonus CD. Singles identical to those appearing on the CDs of First ten years. What a great opportunity to then sell a little more product than to republish the 10 CDs of the first ten years? Of course, I don’t remember and I don’t have any documentation to prove it. It’s just an assumption. But the reality is that EMI put back on sale, in 1995 or later, CDs of the First ten years. For my part, I indicate 1995 as the date of sale.

   Ce que j'ai écrit pour Flight of icarus et aussi valable pour Can I play with madness. Pour les First ten years je possède environ 50% de complet (1er et 2ème tirage) et le reste avec un manque. C'est assez compliqué de trouver les manques car il faut avoir accès au dos du CD. Je vous invite donc à vérifier votre collection, au risque d'avoir quelques surprises. Et à appliquer ce principe des IFPI à tous vos CD afin de voir s'ils sont d'avant ou d'après septembre 1994. Cela peut s'avérer intéressant pour des retirages des albums. Bien entendu il y aura toujours des exceptions ou des variantes. Cela restera un cadre général qu'il faudra compléter avec vos autres observations.

    What I wrote for Flight of icarus and also for Can I play with madness. For the First ten years I have about 50% complete (1st and 2nd draw) and the rest with a lack. It’s quite complicated to find the gaps because you have to have access to the back of the CD. I invite you to check your collection, at the risk of having some surprises. And to apply this IFPI principle to all your CDs to see if they are before or after September 1994. This can be interesting for album releases. Of course there will always be exceptions or variations. That will remain a general framework that will have to be complemented by your other comments.

   Je vous ai annoncé une grande série de CD, la voici. Et je débute avec un CD Japonais de Killers, histoire de commencer fort. Sa référence est EMI Toshiba CP32-5107. Le référence anglaise du LP est aussi indiquée sur le CD: EMC 3357.

   Si vous collectionnez les produits Japonais vous savez qu'il existe deux tirages quasi identiques de ce premier CD Nippon. Celui que je vous présente est le second tirage. Le premier tirage porte la même référence. Mais la différence se situe au niveau de l'obi. Le premier tirage CD Japonais était vendu 3200 yens. Celui en photo valait seulement 3008 yens. Voici les deux obi:

   If you collect Japanese products you know that there are two almost identical prints of this first Nippon CD. The one I’m presenting is the second print. The first print has the same reference. But the difference is in the obi. The first Japanese CD edition sold 3200 yen. The one in the photo was worth only 3008 yen. Here are the two obi upper.

   Le prix de 3200 yens est imprimé en lisible et en blanc alors que celui de 3008 yens est très petit, moins lisible, et en noir. Ce n'est pas la seule différence. Sur le tirage initial le prix de 3200 yens figure aussi au dos du boitier. Mais il a disparu sur le retirage. Voici les deux scans:

   The price of 3200 yen is printed in legible and white while the price of 3008 yen is very small, less legible, and in black. This is not the only difference. On the initial draw the prize of 3200 yen also appears on the back of the case. But it disappeared on the removal. Here are the two scans upper.

   Les CD et l'insert noir et blanc sont eux, identiques. Le CD est dit avec triangle noir, caractéristique des premiers CD Japonais:

   Pour le moment j'ai décrit les deux tirages et détaillés les différences. Mais à quelles dates les deux CD ont été vendus ? On sait que les premiers CD ont été vendus entre 1986 et 1987 selon les labels, sans savoir réellement, faut d'archives précises, la date exacte par label, par artiste et par titre. Il y a alors peu de moyens pour estimer l'année (je ne parle même pas du jour exact) de mise en vente d'un CD. Mais les Japonais sont les gens les plus organisés du monde. Et en général ils indiquent l'année, voir la date, sur leurs produits. Pour ce qui concerne le tirage initial on peut lire la date du 28 février 1987 au dos du boitier. Bien plus tard cette date (voir d'autres) figurera sur l'obi aussi. On connait donc l'année de sortie du tirage initial de Killers, et par extension celle des autres titres comme Iron Maiden ou The number of the beast.

We know that the first CDs were sold between 1986 and 1987 according to the labels, without really knowing, need accurate archives, the exact date by label, by artist and by title. There are then few ways to estimate the year (I’m not even talking about the exact day) of sale of a CD. But the Japanese are the most organized people in the world. And they usually indicate the year, see the date, on their products. The date of 28 February 1987 can be read on the back of the case. Much later this date (see others) will also appear on the obi. We know the year of release of the original Killers edition, and by extension that of other titles like Iron Maiden or The number of the beast.

   Un autre moyen est de voir ce qu'en dise les autres, notamment discogs. Pour les contributeurs le tirage initial date du 1er mars 1986. Je n'ai  aucune idée de comment ils en arrivent à cette conclusion, d'autant plus qu'ils indiquent la même date de réalisation que moi, le 28 février 1987. Sauf à penser que le H.3.1 placé devant signifie le 1er mars 1986, ce qui serait logique pour le 3 et le 1 (inversé en Anglais) mais le H ? J'ai tenté de faire des relations entre les lettres et les années, sans succès. Mais après tout pourquoi pas. Le premier tirage date soit de mars 1986, soit de février 1987. Et le second tirage ? Comme les suites de chiffres et lettres sont les mêmes au dos, et qu'aucune autre date n'est indiquée, j'ai moi-même estimé cette année à 1989. Pourquoi ? Le premier tirage date de 1986 ou 1987. Le troisième (TOCP 7601) de 1993. Le second tirage a donc été mis en vente entre 1989 et 1990. La communauté discogs indique la date de 1988 pour ce second tirage en précisant que la modification de prix des obis a eu lieu après avril 1989. Je suis preneur.

   Another way is to see what others say about it, especially discogs. For the contributors, the initial draw is March 1, 1986. I have no idea how they come to that conclusion, especially since they indicate the same date as I did, February 28, 1987. Except to think that the H.3.1 placed in front means 1 March 1986, which would be logical for the 3 and 1 (inverted in English) but the H? I tried to make connections between letters and years, without success. But after all, why not. The first draw is either March 1986 or February 1987. And the second draw? As the sequence of numbers and letters are the same on the back, and no other date is indicated, I myself estimated this year to 1989. Why? The first print was in 1986 or 1987. The third print (TOCP 7601) was in 1993. The second print went on sale between 1989 and 1990. The discogs community indicates the date of 1988 for this second edition, specifying that the change in obis prices took place after April 1989. I’ll take it from here.

   Le sticker doré Pathé Marconi ne s'applique pas qu'aux tirages avec pochette carton. En effet je possède déjà plusieurs tirages imports avec ce sticker, comme celui-ci pour Wasted years en 45 tours, en picture disque découpé. Dans les années 80 certains tirages, surtout les pictures disc, étaient vendu sous une couverture plastique épais, elle-même placée dans une cellophane plus fin. La plupart du temps la cellophane initiale a été détruite, mais pas la pochette épaisse. Ce qui est le plus intéressant c'est que souvent le sticker a aussi été détruit, enlevé par l'acheteur qui ne pensait pas que 40 ans plus tard ce sticker intéresserait des collectionneurs...

   The golden sticker Pathé Marconi does not only apply to prints with cardboard pouch. Indeed I already have several import prints with this sticker, like this one for Wasted years in 7' inch, in picture disc cut. In the 80s some prints, especially the pictures disc, were sold under a thick plastic cover, itself placed in a finer cellophane. Most of the time the initial cellophane was destroyed, but not the thick pouch. What is most interesting is that often the sticker was also destroyed, removed by the buyer who did not think that 40 years later this sticker would interest collectors...

   Sa référence est EMI EMIP 5583, tirage Anglais. Il est donc strictement identique. seul le sticker différencie l'import France du tirage Anglais. Mais nous allons voir dans le prochain article que la pochette plastique peut aussi réserver une surprise...

   J'ai encore quelques maxi 45 tours avant de passer à des CD. Et je me suis dit que j'allais commencer cette série avec un titre de 2000. Car, et moi le premier, on chercher surtout des tirages anciens, des années 80, pour compléter sa collection. Mais parfois le hasard fait que l'on trouve des tirages récents sympas, comme ce Out of the silent planet. 

   I still have a few 12' before switching to CDs. And I thought I would start this series with a 2000 title. Because, and I the first, we are looking especially for old prints, of the 80s, to complete his collection. But sometimes chance makes that we find recent prints nice, like this Out of the silent planet.

   Pourtant je possède déjà ce tirage. Si vous regardez la page du titre, référence 12OUTEU1, vous verrez les scans relatifs à ce produit. J'en profite pour rappeler que tous mes produits sont visibles sur les pages des titres (Out of the silent planet est la page 081), classée par, en premier les cassettes, les LP et ensuite les CD. Ceci pour les albums. Pour les singles ce sera les cassettes, les 45 tours, les maxi 45 tours et les CD. Bien entendu en fonction des tirages existants pour chaque titre. Plus on va vers les années 2000, moins il y aura de cassettes et plus il y aura de CD. Et après vous trouverez le titre, résumé par trois ou quatre lettres, comme OUT pour Out of the silent planet, ou TNB pour The number of the beast. Et enfin le pays selon la codification internationale (GER pour Allemagne par exemple). Et pour terminer le rang dans ma collection (1, 2,3 etc) Cela donne pour le maxi 45 tours européen de Out of the silent planet dont je ne possède qu'un exemplaire: 12OUTEU1.

   Yet I already have this print. If you look at the title page, reference 12OUTEU1, you will see the scans related to this product. I take this opportunity to remind that all my products are visible on the pages of the titles (Out of the silent planet is page 081), classified by, first the cassettes, the LP and then the CDs. This for the albums. For the singles it will be the cassettes, the 7', the 12' and the CDs. Of course depending on the existing draws for each title. The closer we get to the 2000s, the fewer tapes and the more CDs. And then you’ll find the title, summarized by three or four letters, like OUT for Out of the silent planet, or TNB for The number of the beast. And finally the country according to the international codification (GER for Germany for example). And to finish the row in my collection (1, 2,3 etc) This gives for the European 12' laps of Out of the silent planet of which I have only one copy: 12OUTEU1.

   Et donc si je le possède déjà pourquoi j'en parle ? Car j'ai un contact qui est marchand professionnel sur Paris qui m'a trouvé plusieurs produits du groupe dont un Out of the silent planet neuf, encore emballé. Et en regardant au verso j'ai vu ceci:

    So if I already own it, why am I talking about it? Because I have a contact who is a professional merchant in Paris who found me several products of the group including an Out of the silent planet new, still packed. And looking at the back I saw as upper.

   Un beau sticker doré Pathe Marconi PM 262 figure sur ce produit. Cela indique que ce tirage a été vendu en France, probablement à la Fnac, en import Europe pour le distinguer des autres tirages Europe. Et je peux vous garantir qu'en 2000 il ne doit pas y avoir eu beaucoup de maxi 45 tours d'Out of the silent planet vendus avec ce sticker. Et encore moins existant car très souvent l'acheteur retirait ce sticker. Donc autant j'en trouve souvent avec ce sticker sur des tirages datant des années 85-90, autant c'est exceptionnel d'en voir un en 2000. Je ne sais pas quand ces stickers Pathé Marconi ont été définitivement été arrêtés.

   A beautiful golden sticker Pathe Marconi PM 262 appears on this product. This indicates that this print was sold in France, probably to the Fnac, in Europe import to distinguish it from other Europe prints. And I can guarantee you that in 2000 there must not have been many 12' of Out of the silent planet sold with this sticker. And even less existing because very often the buyer removed this sticker.    Le dernier article sur un maxi 45 tours de cette série sera encore consacré à Maiden Japan. Il s'agit cette fois d'un tirage officiel, venant d'Italie. Sa référence est EMI Italiana SpA 3C 050 07534:

   The last article on a 12 of this series will be devoted to Maiden Japan. This time it is an official draw, coming from Italy. Its reference is EMI Italiana SpA 3C 050 07534.

   La pochette est de type rigide, car de nombreux tirage existent avec des pochettes souples, du moins un papier moins épais. De même l'ouverture se fait par le haut, car là aussi il y a des variantes en fonction des pays. Une accroche visuelle figure sur la pochette, sous la forme d'un rond indiquant un prix spécial. Il ne s'agit pas d'un sticker mais bien d'une intégration dans la maquette:

   The cover is of rigid type, because many prints exist with soft cover, at least a less thick paper. Similarly, the opening is done from the top, because again there are variations depending on the country. A visual hook appears on the cover, in the form of a circle indicating a special price. This is not a sticker but an integration in the model.

   Au dos les crédits indiquent bien la provenance du produit:

   On the back the credits clearly indicate the origin of the product.

   Venons-en aux labels. Ils sont jaunes et typiques d'une production Italienne. La référence est soulignée d'un trait, le logo SIAE est visible, de même qu'un tampon à l'encre rouge. Ce tampon était rajouté manuellement sur la face A, ce qui devait entrainer un travail important et une main d’œuvre nombreuse pour une tache rébarbative ! La matrice est 07534 A, suivi de la date 28.10.81. Cette précision est importante car cela nous confirme que nous sommes en présence d'un tirage initial:

   Let’s come to labels. They are yellow and typical of an Italian production. The reference is underlined with a line, the SIAE logo is visible, as well as a stamp in red ink. This stamp was added manually on the A-side, which had to involve a lot of work and a large workforce for a daunting task! The matrix is 07534 A, followed by the date 28.10.81. This clarification is important because it confirms that we are dealing with an initial draw.

   Cette précision est importante pour les collectionneurs car, malgré ce que l'on peut penser, ces maxi 45 tours ont fait l'objet, dans de nombreux pays, de retirages plus ou moins facile à identifier. Pour l'Italie il en existe au moins deux, avec une variante au niveau de l'imprimeur (Pozzoli) et un retirage avec la référence 50 1075341. Pour la France j'ai identifié à ce jour 4 tirages différents. Ce sont ces détails (imprimeur ou matrice différente) qui nous aident dans nos recherches.

   This precision is important for collectors because, despite what one might think, these 12 rpm have been the object, in many countries, of withdrawals more or less easy to identify. For Italy there are at least two, with a variant at the printer level (Pozzoli) and a withdrawal with reference 50 1075341. For France I have identified 4 different prints so far. It is these details (printer or different matrix) that help us in our research.

   Cela faisait longtemps que je n'avais pas écrit d'article sur un maxi 45 tours et cela tombe bien car j'en ai acheté plusieurs lors d'un salon récent. Notamment ce tirage du single de The number of the beast. Et là aussi je n'avais pas écrit d'article sur un nouveau produit pour ce single depuis 3 ans !

   It’s been a long time since I wrote an article on a 12' and it’s a good thing because I bought several at a recent show. Especially this single of The number of the beast. And again I had not written an article on a new product for this single for 3 years !

   S'agissant d'un tirage Mexicain sa référence est EMI POP 601, mais plus précisément EMI Capitol de Mexico. A lire en deux parties: "EMI Capitol" d'un côté et "de Mexico" de l'autre. Cela figure dans les crédits au dos. Pour plus de simplicité on dira EMI POP 601:

   Being a Mexican print, its reference is EMI POP 601, but more precisely EMI Capitol de Mexico. Read in two parts: "EMI Capitol" on one side and "Mexico" on the other. This is in the credits on the back. For simplicity we will say EMI POP 601.

   La pochette comporte deux mentions spécifiques. La première indique que ce disque est pour les collectionneurs car il comporte un titre enregistré en public. La première mention est un rond rouge imprimé. Et la seconde est un texte imprimé en blanc vers le bas à gauche:

   The cover has two specific mentions. The first indicates that this disc is for collectors because it has a title recorded in public. The first entry is a red printed circle. And the second is a white text down left.

   Si on revient sur les crédits au dos le copyright indique la date de 1982, ce qui est logique car ce single est sorti le 26 avril 1982. Mais l'année réelle de sortie de ce produit est 1983. Cela nous est appris par deux indices. Le premier est sur le label, qui est jaune. Il y a les deux dates: 1982 et 1983. Bien entendu c'est la plus récente qui prévaut:

   If we return to the credits on the back the copyright indicates the date of 1982, which is logical because this single was released on April 26, 1982. But the actual year of release of this product is 1983. We know this from two clues. The first one is on the label, which is yellow. There are the two dates: 1982 and 1983. Of course, the most recent one prevails.

   Le second indice est après la matrice, qui est POP 601-1 pour la face A. A la suite on peut lire: 7 - X - 83. Je pense que cela signifie 7 octobre 1983.
